Jauan Jennings Could Play Week 1
Jauan Jennings (calf) is expected to be ready for the team's Week 1 road tilt with their division-rival Seattle Seahawks. "I expect him to be back, he should be back from it," said Shanahan. "But you never know with a calf," he'd add ominously. Jennings has dealt with a nagging calf injury since the spring that's held him out of the majority of camp. Shanahan's wording doesn't give fantasy managers any extra solace amid the 28-year-old's contract extension disputes, but this is the first word of a timetable for his return, so that's at least mildly encouraging. Jennings will have an excellent chance to build on his breakout 2024 campaign if he's healthy, as the 49ers' wide receiving corps is alarmingly thin. If he's not, fellow wideout Ricky Pearsall, tight end George Kittle, and running back Christian McCaffrey would stand to benefit the most from a volume standpoint. Skyy Moore figures to operate as the team's third WR in that case.
