Shohei Ohtani Hits 97 During Live Batting Practice
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (elbow) topped out at 97 mph during live batting practice on Wednesday. The two-way player hasn't pitched regularly since the start of the 2018 season, but he said his right elbow feels "much better compared to last year." The 26-year-old made just two starts in 2020 before straining the flexor pronator mass near his surgically repaired elbow. Ohtani had an aggressive offseason program that featured more game-like situations, an adjustment to his diet and a tweak in his weight-training program. The Angels plan to use the Japanese star as a two-way player again in 2021 despite his struggles at the plate in 2020 and his arm injury. Ohtani's ADP has dropped to 233 because of injury concerns, but he could wind up being an X-factor for both the Angels and fantasy managers if he can stay on the field.
