Ryan Yarbrough to Face Hitters Thursday
Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) will face live hitters Thursday for the first time since he went on the 15-day injured list with a strained right oblique on June 20. The plan is for Yarbrough to begin at 30 to 35 pitches, and once he's around 50, the Yankees could activate him from the IL. Yarbrough signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Yankees shortly before the season began and turned in respectable results for the club over his first couple of months in pinstripes. The soft-tossing 33-year-old has totaled 16 appearances (eight starts) and gone 3-1 with a 3.90 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 49:17 K:BB in 55 1/3 innings.
