Raheem Mostert 2022 Player Outlook: Uphill Battle Towards Bounce-Back Season
3 years agoRunning back Raheem Mostert only mustered two carries during the 2021 season before requiring season-ending knee surgery. Now, he enters the 2022 season as a member of the Miami Dolphins, the franchise he began his NFL career with back in 2015. Mostert was frequently hampered by injuries during his five-plus years with the San Francisco 49ers. However, when he was on the field he was a remarkably efficient rusher. He's averaged 5.7 yards per carry across his career and he was also a dependable option in the passing game. The Dolphins suddenly have an extremely crowded backfield as the franchise brought in Sony Michel and Chase Edmonds alongside Mostert this offseason. The team will also bring back last year's leading rusher Myles Gaskin in 2022. Mostert's greatest advantage amongst the competition may be the fact that he's reuniting with new Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel this year. McDaniel was the 49ers' run game coordinator during the bulk of Mostert's tenure with the team. The Dolphins were one of the league's worst rushing offenses last year, but their new system and improved depth should help change things a good amount. Mostert appears to have too many obstacles in his way to attain sustained fantasy success this year, so he can remain undrafted in most leagues at this point.
