Texas Rangers shortstop prospect
Sebastian Walcott will participate in the Arizona Fall League (AFL), one of eight players from the organization that will head to the desert. Walcott has played all season at Double-A, and at only 19 years old, he's performed admirably. The Rangers' top-ranked prospect is hitting .251 on the year, but is currently riding an eight-game hit streak and is 23-for-65 (.354) over his last 17 games. A 12.9 percent walk rate has helped him to a .353 OBP, and he's hit 13 home runs along with 32 stolen bases. The 6-foot-4 slugger should be stashed away in dynasty formats. He'll be joined by
Emiliano Teodo, the 2023 AFL Reliever of the Year, who looked like he would be a slam-dunk closer for the team back then, but has had a poor season overall, which has been marred by injury, an 8.00 ERA, and almost as many walks (28) as strikeouts (31) in 27 innings pitched. So, there are some things for him to work on there, and the Rangers can see if he will be a part of their plan for the future.

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Thursday that they reinstated rookie right-hander
Chase Burns (elbow) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-handers
Lyon Richardson and
Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Burns, who was the second overall pick in last year's draft out of Wake Forest, has made eight starts for the Reds in his first MLB season in 2025, but he is expected to pitch out of the bullpen to help a struggling Cincy relief corps when the team resumes play on Friday in Sacramento against the Athletics. The 22-year-old missed a month of action with a Grade 1 right flexor strain and did not go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Don't expect the Reds to use him in a ton of high-leverage spots, which means he's going to lose significant fantasy value the rest of this year. Burns had a 5.24 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with a 57:13 K:BB before his injury.

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect
Chase DeLauter (wrist) is headed to the Arizona Fall League (AFL) this October. He'll be joined by seven other Guardians prospects, including one of the team's former top-ranked prospects, pitcher
Daniel Espino. DeLauter has endured a multitude of injuries during his time in the minors, having never played in more than 57 games in any of the last three seasons, and has been on the shelf since mid-July with a wrist injury. Espino (shoulder) has had similar injury issues as well, having not been able to take the mound since early 2022. The AFL will help both players make up for lost time and help prepare for the 2026 season. Both have a chance to be in the majors next year, with DeLauter potentially able to make the team out of spring training.

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Thursday that they reinstated right-hander
Graham Ashcraft (forearm) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-handers
Lyon Richardson and
Yosver Zulueta in corresponding moves. Ashcraft will return to the Reds after missing the last two weeks with a forearm strain in his right arm and will be available out of their bullpen for the weekend series in Sacramento against the Athletics. The former starter is now a full-time reliever in Cincinnati, which has sapped him of what little fantasy value he had left. Ashcraft has made 53 appearances out of the bullpen for the Reds this year and has a career-best 3.72 ERA (2.90 FIP) and 1.45 WHIP with 56 strikeouts and 24 walks in 58 innings. His strikeout rate is a career-best 22%, but his walk rate is a career-high 9.4%.

Athletics catching prospect
Daniel Susac (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. The nature of the injury is not clear, but if he can make it a minimum stay on the IL, then he could return in time for the Pacific Coast League playoffs. The Athletics' 12th-ranked prospect is having a fine season for the Aviators, hitting .275 with an .832 OPS, 18 home runs, and even seven steals. A 26.8 percent strikeout rate is something to keep an eye on, as that likely won't get better at the major league level, and he could be there as soon as 2026.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter
Anthony Santander (back, shoulder) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Buffalo after it was pushed back earlier this week, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Santander will serve as the DH for the first few games before playing both right and left field. It's unclear exactly when the 30-year-old might be able to finally rejoin the big-league roster, and it will depend on how he's progressing once he returns to defense in the outfield. After a big year in 2024 in which the Venezuelan switch-hitter popped a career-high 44 homers and drove in 102 runs for the Baltimore Orioles, he's been a massive bust in his first year in Toronto and has played in only 50 games due to a subluxation in his left shoulder that he suffered in May. He's dealt with back tightness recently, but he could be back soon to help Toronto's push toward the postseason.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect
Josue De Paula is one of eight Dodger prospects set to participate in this year's Arizona Fall League (AFL). The Dodgers' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 12) had a strong season at High-A, where he slashed .263/.406/.421 with 12 home runs and 32 steals. Impressively, the 20-year-old walked (81) nearly as many times as he struck out (86). The performance earned him a promotion to Double-A this past Monday. The left-handed slugger will be accompanied by
Kendall George, his teammate from Great Lakes, who stole 100 bases this season. The AFL season commences on October 6, and it could provide De Paula with the extra seasoning he needs in order to make a run at a big league debut next year.

Baltimore Orioles right-hander
Dean Kremer (forearm) will have an "extensive" bullpen session on Friday in Toronto, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino, who said that Kremer's next start will likely come sometime next week. The Orioles pulled Kremer early from his start last Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to soreness in his right forearm, but it appears that he has avoided a serious injury and should return to the team's rotation next week. The 29-year-old's next start could land against the division-rival New York Yankees, which wouldn't be the most ideal matchup for fantasy managers still playing for something in 2025. However, in his lone start versus the Yanks this year, Kremer was solid, allowing only an earned run on five hits while walking one and striking out seven in a no-decision in 5 2/3 innings.

Baltimore Orioles right-hander
Tomoyuki Sugano (foot) is listed as the team's starter for Saturday's game against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, according to The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich. Sugano was forced to leave his last start early on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth inning when he was hit by a comebacker. The good news is that he avoided any fractures in his foot and will be able to make his next turn through the rotation in another tough matchup. The 35-year-old has been inconsistent in nine starts (44 1/3 innings) since the All-Star break, posting a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 37:13 K:BB. Sugano has struggled in his two starts against Toronto this year, too, allowing five earned runs on 12 hits with four walks and only one strikeout in 8 2/3 innings pitched. He'll be a pretty volatile streamer this weekend.

New York Yankees shortstop
Anthony Volpe (shoulder) received a cortisone injection in his left shoulder for an injury that he initially suffered in early May when he dove for a ball and heard a pop, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Volpe did not have structural damage in his shoulder and never went on the injured list, but he has had "discomfort on occasion in the area since." Given the 24-year-old's struggles at the plate, manager Aaron Boone hinted that the shortstop position could be up for grabs going forward, and
Jose Caballero made the start at the 6 in Wednesday's loss to the Detroit Tigers. Volpe does have 19 home runs in his third year in the big leagues for the Yankees, but he's hitting a career-low .206 (103-for-501) with 140 strikeouts and 41 walks in 141 games. Fantasy managers may not be able to count on him from here on out.

Texas Rangers outfielder
Sam Haggerty (ankle) ran the bases at Globe Life Field on Wednesday and is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday, according to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. Haggerty is getting close to returning from left-ankle inflammation that has kept him out since the middle of August. Playing time could be sporadic to end the year for the 31-year-old in Texas when he returns, but at the very least, he should be on the short side of an outfield platoon against left-handed pitchers with
Michael Helman. Haggerty has hit over .300 against lefties this year and is slashing .253/.328/.370 with two home runs, 13 RBI, 31 runs, and 12 stolen bases in his 162 at-bats in 2025 with the Rangers.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder
Tyler O'Neill (wrist) is on track to return to the team on Friday night when they start their series against the Blue Jays. Interim manager Tony Mansolino said that O'Neill could be activated if all went well on Thursday in his rehab start in Triple-A Norfolk, and O'Neill crushed a home run in the third inning while going 1-for-4. O'Neill has been limited to only 43 games this season for the Orioles, posting a disappointing .210/.293/.434 with eight homers, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 164 plate appearances. He has missed over a month with wrist inflammation, but will look to end the season on a high note by playing the last few weeks as a healthy contributor. Before the year, he signed a three-year deal with Baltimore, and it seems unlikely he would exercise his player opt-out after this season, making him a part of the O's plans for next year when he'll hope for a much healthier campaign.

Miami Marlins outfielder
Dane Myers (oblique) has been sidelined since August 30 with an oblique strain, but the 29-year-old righty is starting a rehab assignment in Triple-A this Thursday, so he should be on track to get back in the lineup before the end of the season. In his 99 games this season, Myers hit .233 with six homers, a .276 wOBA, and 17 stolen bases. The Marlins outfield is a little crowded with younger players than Myers right now, so it will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets if he's activated. He is still not eligible for salary arbitration until 2027, but his role on the team going forward is uncertain. He could get a chance to show his worth in the final few weeks of the season, though, as long as his rehab goes smoothly.

Miami Marlins third baseman
Connor Norby (quadriceps) has made a quick recovery from his left quad strain, and he could be ready to come off the injured list when he's first eligible on Sunday. He'll start a rehab assignment on Thursday in Triple-A Jacksonville. Norby has been limited to just 77 games this season due to multiple injuries, hitting .247 with six homers, seven stolen bases, 36 runs scored, and a .294 wOBA. He went 6-for-18 (.333) with three doubles in his five games with the team after recovering from a broken hamate bone that kept him sidelined since the All-Star break. If Norby can get back in the lineup and stay healthy, he'll be worth a look if you need some infield help for the last few weeks of the season.

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman
Jonathan Aranda (wrist) had a checkup on his fractured wrist on Wednesday and is progressing in his recovery. He has started playing catch and hitting off a tee and will continue to ramp up his activities after his positive checkup. Manager Kevin Cash said the team isn't sure if he'll be able to return this season, but it's a great sign that the 27-year-old lefty is on the road to recovery and should be fully healthy for next season. Before the injury, Aranda was having his long-awaited breakout season, hitting .316 with 12 homers, 54 RBI, and a .377 wOBA in his 103 games. He should be a key part of the Rays lineup when he's ready to return, whether that's before the end of this season or for the start of 2026.
