San Francisco Giants right-hander
Landen Roupp (knee) will miss four weeks after a second opinion confirmed he has a bone bruise in his left knee. Roupp suffered the injury in his most recent start, Aug. 20 against the San Diego Padres, when he had to be carted off the field. With the Giants at 64-68 and likely out of playoff contention, Roupp may not make it back this season. Regardless, it's a relief for Roupp and the Giants that his injury isn't serious enough to affect his status for the 2026 campaign. The 26-year-old has made 22 starts this season and gone 7-7 with a 3.80 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP, and 102:45 K:BB in 106 2/3 innings.

Houston Astros second baseman
Brendan Rodgers (head/back) is dealing with lumbar spine inflammation and has been pulled from his rehab assignment. This continues an injury-riddled season for Rodgers, who landed on the 10-day IL on June 18 with an oblique strain and has faced multiple setbacks since then. In his first Triple-A rehab game on July 18, Rodgers suffered a concussion and a nasal fracture. He had been working back from that until this latest issue cropped up. There's no timeline for Rodgers' return, which doesn't bode well with time running out on the regular season. The 29-year-old opened 2025 as the Astros' starting second baseman, but he hit a brutal .191/.266/.278 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 128 plate appearances before his injury woes began.

The Texas Rangers announced that left-hander
Jacob Latz will start against the Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) had been in line to toe the rubber, but his superb season came to an end on Tuesday as a result of a strained rotator cuff. While Latz has been effective in his own right this year, he has done the lion's share of his work out of the bullpen (26 appearances, three starts). The 29-year-old has posted a 3.05 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 56:28 K:BB over 59 innings. He'll take on an Angels offense whose .302 wOBA against lefties ranks a middling 17th in the league.

The Boston Red Sox plan to activate outfielder
Rob Refsnyder (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on either Wednesday or Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles. Refsnyder hasn't played since Aug. 13 as a result of a strained left oblique. The right-handed Refsnyder has done most of his damage in his career against southpaws, which has once again been the case this year. Refnysder owns a .905 OPS versus lefties in 2025, while righties have held him to a .646 mark. Overall, the 34-year-old reserve has slashed .272/.357/.471 with six homers, 22 RBI, 23 runs scored, and three steals across 54 games and 157 trips to the plate.

Boston Red Sox outfielder
Wilyer Abreu (calf) ran at 40 to 50 percent intensity on Tuesday as he recovers from a right-calf injury. Abreu, who has been on the 10-day injured list since Aug. 18, is on track to return around Sept. 1. The 26-year-old's injury paved the way for the promotion of well-regarded outfield prospect
Jhostynxon Garcia, but "The Password" has only appeared in two games and gone 0-for-4 in six plate appearances. Abreu, on the other hand, has slashed a strong .253/.325/.486 with 22 homers, 69 RBI, 52 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 395 plate appearances this year. The Red Sox will be glad to get him back for the last month of the season as they try to secure a playoff berth.

Daylen Lile (illness) is out of the lineup against New York Yankees left-hander
Max Fried on Wednesday. It'll be the Nationals' fourth game in a row without Lile, who hasn't played since Saturday because of an illness. The 22-year-old has hit a productive .313/.370/.448 with one homer, eight RBI, 11 runs scored, and three steals in 73 plate appearances in August. He could be back in the lineup when the Nationals start a series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, With Lile out again on Wednesday, the Nats will go with
James Wood (left field) and
Dylan Crews (right field) in the outfield corners, while

Atlanta Braves outfielder
Jake Fraley (knee) will play right field and hit eighth on Wednesday against Miami Marlins starter
Ryan Gusto. Fraley is set to make his debut with the Braves, who claimed him on waivers from the Cincinnati Reds on Aug. 21. The 30-year-old hasn't played since Aug. 16 after he hyperextended his right knee in his final game with the Reds, but the Braves opted against placing him on the 10-day injured list. Fraley played in 67 games with the Reds this year and hit .232/.332/.387 with six homers, 23 RBI, and 29 runs scored in 193 plate appearances. He doesn't have a path to regular playing time in Atlanta with
Jurickson Profar,
Michael Harris II, and

The Colorado Rockies moved right-hander
Antonio Senzatela to the bullpen on Tuesday, Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports. Senzatela has struggled mightily as a starter this season, posting a career-worst 7.15 ERA through 112 innings. His 1.90 WHIP and 61/42 K/BB do not get much better, either. At this time, it's unclear who will take Senzatela's place in the rotation, but he was slated to start Thursday against the Houston Astros. Senzatela is likely to be in a long-relief role, rather than a late-inning, high-leverage reliever, which will only minimize his fantasy value even more in leagues that prioritize saves and holds. Fantasy managers looking for relief options will want to look elsewhere, as Senzatela has not only struggled this year, but also pitches in the most hitter-friendly ballpark in the majors in Coors Field.

The Pittsburgh Pirates designated left-hander
Andrew Heaney for assignment on Tuesday after he gave up five earned runs in two-thirds of an inning pitched on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Pirates demoted Heaney to the bullpen earlier in August after a rough stretch in late June and July. On June 12, Heaney had a 3.33 ERA through 14 starts and was putting together a nice season. However, he proceeded to allow seven earned runs against the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers in back-to-back outings, and that's where things started to fall apart for him. Heaney's season ERA now sits at 5.39, and a team may pick him up once he goes through waivers. But for now, fantasy managers will want to look elsewhere for production.

Los Angeles Angels right-hander
Jack Kochanowicz will start for the Angels on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers with
Tyler Anderson (paternity) on the paternity list, Sam Blum of the Athletic reports. Kochanowicz last appeared for the Angels on August 10 and allowed six earned runs in three innings against the Detroit Tigers. For the season, the 24-year-old has struggled across the board, pitching to the tune of a 6.19 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and a 14.5 percent strikeout rate (fourth percentile). The Rangers' bats have been solid of late, so fantasy managers who are looking for a streamer on Wednesday will likely want to search for other options.

Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect
Aidan Smith continued his recent surge at the plate on Tuesday in a contest against High-A Greenville. During this game, Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run and two stolen bases. Over his last eight games, Smith has been one of the most productive hitters at the High-A level, posting an impressive .345/.406/.483 slash line with one double, one home run, and seven stolen bases. However, before this recent surge at the plate, the fifth-ranked prospect in the system held a modest .161 avrage with a .493 OPS over his last 15 games with High-A Bowling Green. Fantasy managers should expect Smith to remain with High-A during the final weeks of the season given his inconsistent play. However, he could push for an early-season promotion to Double-A in 2026.

San Francisco Giants first base prospect
Bryce Eldridge went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run during their contest against Triple-A Reno on Tuesday evening. This was Eldridge's third long ball over his last six contests. Since August 16 (the last nine games), the top-ranked prospect in the Bay Area has been swinging a hot bat, posting a strong .270/.341/.622 line with a .963 OPS. Throughout 50 total games with Triple-A Sacramento this season, the former 16th overall pick from the 2023 MLB Draft has struggled at times, holding a .237/.305/.516 line. However, he appears to have turned the corner and is making a strong case to join the MLB level. Given his recent power surge, fantasy managers in 12+ team formats should consider stashing Eldridge over the final month of the season.

Boston Red Sox infield/outfield prospect
Kristian Campbell has continued to make a strong case to earn a promotion to the major leagues. Over his last four games with Triple-A Worcester, the former top prospect has tallied at least two hits in each contest. During this four-game stretch, Campbell .444/.474/.722 slash line with two doubles and one home run. Through his first 52 games with Triple-A this season, Campbell has held a strong .280/.490/.440 line with eight doubles, seven home runs, and three stolen bases. Earlier in the season, Campbell spent time in Boston but was unable to find much success, finishing his first stint with a .664 OPS through 67 games. Campbell remains a high-end prospect to stash in all formats as he should be in the mix to join Boston for the stretch run.

Kansas City Royals catching prospect
Carter Jensen went 3-for-4 with two home runs during their contest against Triple-A Lehigh Valley. This was the backstop's second-straight multi-hit game and fourth-straight gam tallying at least one hit. The No. 2-ranked prospect in the Kansas City system opened the season playing with Double-A, but was able to make the jump to Triple-A quickly. With Double-A, Jensen held a .292/.360/.420 line with a .780 OPS. Since joinging the top ranks of the Kansas City asystem, Jensen has held a .286/.401/.643 line with an impressive 1.044 OPS. During this 39-game stretch, Jensen has tallied nine doubles and hit 13 long balls. Given his dominant play at Double-A, Jensen could be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the coming weeks.
