Brice Turang Dealing With Pinky Injury
Brice Turang (pinky) exited Tuesday's 14-0 win over the Pirates early due to a "slight pinky issue," per Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. Turang went 1-for-3 with a solo home run off of Paul Skenes and also had a strikeout before being replaced by Andruw Monasterio. Per manager Pat Murphy, Turang was only pulled because the Brewers were up by so much. It sounds and seems like the issue shouldn't hinder Turang, although fantasy managers should keep an eye out for any news on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been productive for fantasy once again, slashing .278/.344/.411 with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, and 21 stolen bases in 481 plate appearances.Source: Curt Hogg - X.com
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Willson Contreras Exits Early Tuesday With Right-Foot Bruise
Willson Contreras (foot) exited Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Rockies after being hit by a pitch in his right foot. Contreras was plunked in the fourth inning, and he stayed in the game until the sixth inning, when he was replaced defensively by Nolan Gorman. The team reported the injury as a right foot bruise. Contreras went 0-for-1 with the hit-by-pitch before exiting. Fantasy managers should look for further updates in the coming days to get a better idea of whether Contreras may have to miss time. The 33-year-old has produced offensively while transitioning to first base this season, slashing .255/.344/.443 with 16 home runs, 65 RBI, and four stolen bases in 472 plate appearances.Source: Derrick Goold - X.com
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Tyler Fitzgerald Recalled on Tuesday
Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday ahead of their game against the Padres. Fitzgerald played second base for the Giants earlier in the season, but he was playing right field at Triple-A and was slotted in the lineup against the Padres batting eighth and playing right field. Pitcher Carson Wisenhunt was optioned in a corresponding move. The 27-year-old was unable to replicate his 2024 success with the Giants in the first portion of 2025, slashing .227/.287/.333 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 222 plate appearances. As for Wisenhunt, the 24-year-old posted a 5.04 ERA in three starts with the Giants, although he was not faring much better at Triple-A.Source: Shayna Rubin - X.com
The San Francisco Giants recalled second baseman/outfielder Oneil Cruz Leaves Tuesday's Game with Apparent Head Injury
Oneil Cruz (head) exited Tuesday's game against the Brewers after a collision in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cruz was replaced by veteran Tommy Pham and is currently undergoing evaluation and treatment from the team's medical staff. The severity of the injury has not yet been disclosed. Cruz is in his fifth season with Pittsburgh and has shown flashes of upside despite an inconsistent year at the plate. Through 108 games, he is slashing .207/.304/.398 with a .702 OPS. With his rare athletic profile and raw power, Cruz remains a key part of the Pirates' long-term plans.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Adonai Mitchell "Dominating" Colts Training Camp
Adonai Mitchell has been dominant in training camp and has moments where he looks like a perennial Pro Bowl player, according to James Boyd of The Athletic. A second-round pick out of Texas in 2024, Mitchell was used sparingly as a rookie. In 17 games, he had just 23 receptions for 312 yards and zero touchdowns. The Colts have three productive wide receivers in Josh Downs, Michael Pittman Jr., and Alec Pierce. However, none of those three are elite enough talents to keep Mitchell off the field if he can hit on his high-end potential. His fantasy outlook for 2025 is murky due to both the target competition and shaky quarterback situation in Indianapolis, but Mitchell is a name to monitor.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Jameson Taillon Set for Final Rehab Start Wednesday Before Cubs Return
Jameson Taillon (calf) is expected to make one final rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday before rejoining the big-league rotation, according to manager Craig Counsell. Taillon has been sidelined since July 4 with a right calf strain but appears on track to return later this month. Before the injury, the 33-year-old posted a 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 95 1/3 innings across 17 starts. Now in his third season with Chicago, Taillon has long been a model of consistency, never recording a season ERA above 5.00. His return could provide solid stability for a Cubs team with strong postseason aspirations.Source: Maddie Lee
Chicago Cubs right-hander Bradley Beal Feeling Rejuvenated in Los Angeles
Bradley Beal is looking forward to playing for a new team in 2025. "I feel like I've got a new life of rejuvenation," said Beal during a recent interview. "I'm excited about the opportunity, new city, a new environment." Beal was once a top performer in the National Basketball Association. His best season was in 2020, when he averaged a career-high 31.3 points with the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately, Beal's production has significantly decreased ever since, with the 32-year-old most recently amassing 17.0 points with the Suns throughout the 2024 campaign. He's also struggled to remain on the floor, logging 60 games or fewer in the last six seasons. Beal, who signed a two-year deal with the Clippers this offseason after getting bought out by Phoenix, is a bounce-back candidate. However, he'll need to stay off the injury report.Source: Tamar Sher
Los Angeles Clippers guard Jerry Jeudy Showing "Improved Chemistry" with Flacco
Jerry Jeudy is showing "improved chemistry" with quarterback Joe Flacco, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Jackson writes that Jeudy had his best practice of the summer last week when the Browns held a joint session with the Carolina Panthers. The 26-year-old had his most productive NFL season in 2024, recording 90 catches for 1,209 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games for Cleveland. Jeudy took off once Jameis Winston replaced Deshaun Watson at quarterback for the Browns, and Flacco profiles similarly to Winston as a high-volume gunslinger at this point in his career. There's a chance that Flacco is replaced by one of the young quarterbacks in Cleveland at some point this season. However, until that happens, Jeudy is a good bet to outperform his early-seventh-round average draft position.Source: The Athletic - Zac Jackson
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Frankie Montas Moves to Bullpen, Hopes for Reset in Relief Role
Frankie Montas was officially moved to the bullpen on Tuesday after continued struggles in the rotation. The 32-year-old veteran has started seven of his eight outings this year and has pitched to a 6.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP--numbers that mark one of the worst stretches of his career. Despite Montas falling short, the Mets starting rotation as a whole has impressed, ranking third in the National League with a 3.65 ERA. A move to the bullpen presents a possible reset for Montas, who has yet to find consistent success since joining New York's pitching staff.Source: Deesha
New York Mets right-hander TreVeyon Henderson to Split Running Back Snaps in New England?
TreVeyon Henderson will "get half of the running back snaps this season," according to Chad Graff of The Athletic. Graff writes that Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has "publicly backed (running back) Rhamondre Stevenson several times and seems inclined to at least try out a running back committee." A second-round pick out of Ohio State, Henderson impressed in his preseason debut on Friday by catching three passes and returning the game's opening kickoff for a touchdown. There's no doubt Henderson is an explosive player, but Stevenson is an established veteran who has averaged at least 12 carries per game in three straight seasons. Henderson profiles as a mid-tier RB2 in fantasy, but he has massive upside if he can seize the lion's share of the backfield touches in New England.Source: The Athletic - Chad Graff

Tony Gonsolin Out for Season, Faces Long Road Back from Elbow Surgery
Tony Gonsolin (elbow) will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing an internal brace and flexor tendon repair procedure on Tuesday. The 31-year-old had been on the injured list since June 7 due to right elbow discomfort, and this latest setback is expected to sideline him for eight to 10 months. That timeline erases any slim hopes of a return this year and likely pushes his availability well into the 2026 season. Gonsolin has now lost two straight seasons to major arm injuries after missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He managed just seven starts in 2025, struggling to a 5.00 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and .244 opponents average. Despite the recent health issues, Gonsolin owns a strong career track record with a 3.34 ERA and 37-13 record across parts of seven seasons.Source: Fabian Ardaya
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Justin Fields "Playing It Safe" in the Passing Game
Justin Fields has been "mostly playing it safe" in the passing game in practices, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Rosenblatt notes that Fields has been throwing a lot of "quick slants, dump offs, (and) screens." Fields set a career-high in air yards per pass attempt (7.21) in 10 games last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but has typically been more comfortable checking down to underneath targets than most mobile quarterbacks. If the Jets' plan is for Fields to get the ball out of his hands quickly, it could benefit running back Breece Hall's reception totals. It could also remove some chances for Fields to make plays in scramble situations. A good portion of Fields' fantasy value comes from his legs (career 50.2 rushing yards per game).Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt
New York Jets quarterback Landen Roupp to Start Friday, Rejoins Giants Rotation
Landen Roupp (elbow) is set to make his first start off the 15-day injured list this Friday against the Rays to open the weekend series. Roupp had been sidelined since July 23 with right elbow inflammation but now has a firm return date. The 26-year-old has put together a solid season with a 3.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 95 strikeouts over 20 starts. He'll slot back into a rotation that already includes Justin Verlander, Robbie Ray, and Logan Webb. As the Giants fight to stay in the playoff hunt, Roupp's return could provide a timely boost.Source: Shayna Rubin
San Francisco Giants right-hander Curtis Samuel "Getting Close" to Returning
Curtis Samuel (hamstring) is "getting close" to returning from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for two weeks, head coach Sean McDermott told the media. Thanks to the injury, Samuel has gotten off to an inauspicious start in 2025 as he looks to rebound from a disappointing first year in Buffalo. After back-to-back solid seasons in Washington, Samuel left for the Bills in free agency and went on to catch 31 passes on 46 targets for 253 yards and a touchdown in 14 games in 2024. He's largely off the fantasy radar now as part of an offense known for spreading the ball around to several targets.Source: Jon Scott - WGRZ
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trevor Penning to Miss a Few Weeks
Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough, as well as their Alvin Kamara-led running game.Source: Ian Rapoport
New Orleans Saints left guard Trevor Penning (foot) will miss a few weeks after suffering a foot injury in the team's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Although Penning had to be carted off the field, it appears he avoided a serious injury. While the fourth-year man served as a tackle from 2022-24, starting a career-high 17 games on the right side last season, the Saints' new coaching staff kicked him inside to guard. The reviews have been positive so far, and Penning allowed zero pressures on 20 snaps in the preseason opener before leaving early. If he's able to return for the Saints' Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, it would be a plus for their starting quarterback, whether it's Jacob Cowing Returns to Practice

Bhayshul Tuten Getting More Team Reps
Bhayshul Tuten has continued to see an increase in team reps in practice, per John Shipley of SI.com. Tuten logged another positive showing on Tuesday, ripping off "the best run of the day" on an explosive play up the middle. The fourth-round pick from Virginia Tech tied Tank Bigsby for the team lead in carries (six) and yards (24) in the Jaguars' preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. He also scored Jacksonville's sole rushing touchdown of the game and caught two passes for 16 yards. Tuten is listed behind co-starters Bigsby and Travis Etienne Jr. on the Jags' unofficial depth chart, but it's notable that he has impressed new head coach Liam Coen enough to receive first-team work in practice on occasion. He'll have a chance to continue turning heads against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.Source: John Shipley - SI.com

Yordan Alvarez Could Face Live Pitching This Weekend
Yordan Alvarez (hand) could face live pitching this weekend in West Palm Beach, Fla., according to manager Joe Espada. Alvarez is slowly recovering from a fractured right hand that has kept him out since early May. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter has been taking on-field batting practice and could take the next step this weekend. Alvarez will most likely need a minor-league rehab assignment after that, but if he can avoid another setback with his hand, he could return to Houston's lineup as the everyday DH in mid-August. The three-time All-Star and former Silver Slugger winner could be a difference-maker for the 'Stros when he's back, but he's running out of time to make a difference in fantasy lineups. He was hitting an uncharacteristic .210 (21-for-100) with three homers and 18 RBI at the time of his hand injury.Source: The Athletic - Chandler Rome
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Jacob Wilson Begins Hitting Progression
Jacob Wilson (forearm), who is on the 10-day injured list with a left-forearm fracture, began a hitting progression on Tuesday and continues to do baseball activities, per Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America. Wilson fractured his forearm in late July but could be back in the big leagues with the A's before the end of August, barring a setback as he ramps up his activities. The contact-oriented Wilson was an American League All-Star in his first full season in the big leagues this year and was hitting a cool .312/.354/.439 in 94 games at the time of his injury. The 23-year-old has limited power, though, and has 10 homers, 45 RBI, 46 runs scored and five stolen bases in 396 at-bats. Until Wilson returns, Darell Hernaiz should continue to operate as the starting shortstop. Based on his quality of contact, Wilson has been very fortunate to hit .312 -- his xBA sits at .284.Source: Baseball America - Jessica Kleinschmidt
Athletics shortstop Jake Bauers to Begin Rehab Assignment on Friday
Jake Bauers (shoulder) said he will travel to Durham on Wednesday and will begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Nashville, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The 29-year-old right-handed slugger is nearing a return to the big leagues, but with the way he's played this year and with how hot Andrew Vaughn has been of late, Bauers won't be guaranteed regular playing time at first base in Milwaukee when he's activated from the 10-day injured list. The former seventh-rounder by the San Diego Padres in 2013 is hitting just .197 (25-for-127) on the season with five long balls, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and five stolen bases. Meanwhile, Vaughn has really enjoyed his change of scenery after being acquired from the White Sox. He's gone 32-for-91 (.352) with seven homers and 29 RBI in his first 26 games with the Brewers.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy

Victor Mederos Recalled to Start Against Dodgers
Victor Mederos from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, and he will make the spot start against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers after left-hander Tyler Anderson (back) was scratched from his scheduled start. Mederos, a 24-year-old Cuban native, will be making his first start in the big leagues in just his 10th overall appearance. He made his big-league debut with the Halos back in 2023 and has allowed 12 earned runs on 14 hit (one homer) while walking 13 and striking out 12 in his 12 1/3 innings in the majors. In 19 starts at Salt Lake and High-A Tri-City this year, Medero has a 3.41 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 85:37 K:BB in 103 innings pitched. In what will likely be just one spot start, fantasy managers should look elsewhere against the first-place Dodgers, even if the reigning World Series champs have been cold of late.Source: Angels PR
The Los Angeles Angels recalled right-hander Ladd McConkey Returns to 11-on-11 Work on Tuesday
Ladd McConkey (undisclosed) was back in 11-on-11 drills at Tuesday's training camp practice, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper. "I feel like I'm there now. It's just about building everything back up and...getting my conditioning back to where it needs to be," McConkey said when asked how close he is to 100% health. The Chargers and McConkey haven't disclosed the nature of his injury. Now that the 23-year-old second-year wideout is back at practice, he could play in the team's third preseason contest this Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. The second-rounder in 2024 out of Georgia quickly became quarterback Justin Herbert's go-to receiver last year and finished with an 82-1,149-7 line in 16 games played. McConkey is a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 in fantasy going into his sophomore season.Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jackson Chourio Making Solid Progress
Jackson Chourio (hamstring) is currently running at 75 percent intensity without any issues. Barring any setbacks, Chourio is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon. The young slugger has been sidelined since late July due to a strained hamstring. The Brewers gave Chourio a 2-to-4 week timetable when they placed him on the 10-day injured list. It sounds like Chourio will start a rehab assignment in late August. That being said, fantasy managers probably won't see Chourio back in Milwaukee until some point in September. Fantasy managers should keep checking back for updates on his status.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Austin Riley Likely to Return This Week
Austin Riley (abdominal) is expected to return from the 10-day injured list this week. Both Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. (calf) is with the team and expected to play at some point this week. Riley isn't eligible to return until Thursday, so he might not be back into the lineup until this weekend. Riley has been sidelined since early August due to an abdominal strain. The right-handed slugger missed time in July as well due to injury. The Braves are likely to be cautious here and wait until Riley is 100 percent healthy before getting him back into their lineups.Source: Mark Bowman

Chad Ruhwedel Retires From NHL
Source: NHL.com
Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday through the NHL Players Association. He has decided to hang up his skates following a 13-year career, during which Ruhwedel made 369 regular-season appearances. The San Diego-born blue-liner recorded 50 points (13 goals, 37 assists), along with 350 blocks and 622 hits. Ruhwedel, who was not drafted, started his career with the Buffalo Sabres and also suited up for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. He won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2017. The Rangers used Ruhwedel in five games last season.Ronald Acuna Jr. to be Activated Soon
Ronald Acuna Jr. (calf) is reportedly with the team and should be activated from the injured list soon. Braves' manager Brian Snitker recently told reporters that Acuna won't require a minor league rehab assignment. That means, Acuna should be ready to play at some point this week. There currently is no timetable in place, but fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if Acuna returns by this weekend. The superstar outfielder has been sidelined since late July due to a right calf strain. Fantasy managers should continue checking back throughout the week for more updates on Acuna's status.Source: Mark Bowman
