Brice Turang (pinky) exited Tuesday's 14-0 win over the Pirates early due to a "slight pinky issue," per Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. Turang went 1-for-3 with a solo home run off of
Paul Skenes and also had a strikeout before being replaced by
Andruw Monasterio. Per manager Pat Murphy, Turang was only pulled because the Brewers were up by so much. It sounds and seems like the issue shouldn't hinder Turang, although fantasy managers should keep an eye out for any news on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been productive for fantasy once again, slashing .278/.344/.411 with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, and 21 stolen bases in 481 plate appearances.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman
Willson Contreras (foot) exited Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Rockies after being hit by a pitch in his right foot. Contreras was plunked in the fourth inning, and he stayed in the game until the sixth inning, when he was replaced defensively by
Nolan Gorman. The team reported the injury as a right foot bruise. Contreras went 0-for-1 with the hit-by-pitch before exiting. Fantasy managers should look for further updates in the coming days to get a better idea of whether Contreras may have to miss time. The 33-year-old has produced offensively while transitioning to first base this season, slashing .255/.344/.443 with 16 home runs, 65 RBI, and four stolen bases in 472 plate appearances.

The San Francisco Giants recalled second baseman/outfielder
Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday ahead of their game against the Padres. Fitzgerald played second base for the Giants earlier in the season, but he was playing right field at Triple-A and was slotted in the lineup against the Padres batting eighth and playing right field. Pitcher Carson Wisenhunt was optioned in a corresponding move. The 27-year-old was unable to replicate his 2024 success with the Giants in the first portion of 2025, slashing .227/.287/.333 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 222 plate appearances. As for Wisenhunt, the 24-year-old posted a 5.04 ERA in three starts with the Giants, although he was not faring much better at Triple-A.

Oneil Cruz (head) exited Tuesday's game against the Brewers after a collision in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cruz was replaced by veteran
Tommy Pham and is currently undergoing evaluation and treatment from the team's medical staff. The severity of the injury has not yet been disclosed. Cruz is in his fifth season with Pittsburgh and has shown flashes of upside despite an inconsistent year at the plate. Through 108 games, he is slashing .207/.304/.398 with a .702 OPS. With his rare athletic profile and raw power, Cruz remains a key part of the Pirates' long-term plans.

Adonai Mitchell has been dominant in training camp and has moments where he looks like a perennial Pro Bowl player, according to James Boyd of The Athletic. A second-round pick out of Texas in 2024, Mitchell was used sparingly as a rookie. In 17 games, he had just 23 receptions for 312 yards and zero touchdowns. Jameson Taillon (calf) is expected to make one final rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday before rejoining the big-league rotation, according to manager Craig Counsell. Taillon has been sidelined since July 4 with a right calf strain but appears on track to return later this month. Before the injury, the 33-year-old posted a 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 95 1/3 innings across 17 starts. Now in his third season with Chicago, Taillon has long been a model of consistency, never recording a season ERA above 5.00. His return could provide solid stability for a Cubs team with strong postseason aspirations.

Bradley Beal is looking forward to playing for a new team in 2025. "I feel like I've got a new life of rejuvenation," said Beal during a recent interview. "I'm excited about the opportunity, new city, a new environment." Beal was once a top performer in the National Basketball Association. His best season was in 2020, when he averaged a career-high 31.3 points with the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately, Beal's production has significantly decreased ever since, with the 32-year-old most recently amassing 17.0 points with the Suns throughout the 2024 campaign. He's also struggled to remain on the floor, logging 60 games or fewer in the last six seasons. Beal, who signed a two-year deal with the Clippers this offseason after getting bought out by Phoenix, is a bounce-back candidate. However, he'll need to stay off the injury report.

Frankie Montas was officially moved to the bullpen on Tuesday after continued struggles in the rotation. The 32-year-old veteran has started seven of his eight outings this year and has pitched to a 6.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP--numbers that mark one of the worst stretches of his career. Despite Montas falling short, the Mets starting rotation as a whole has impressed, ranking third in the National League with a 3.65 ERA. A move to the bullpen presents a possible reset for Montas, who has yet to find consistent success since joining New York's pitching staff.

TreVeyon Henderson will "get half of the running back snaps this season," according to Chad Graff of The Athletic. Graff writes that Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has "publicly backed (running back)
Rhamondre Stevenson several times and seems inclined to at least try out a running back committee." A second-round pick out of Ohio State, Henderson impressed in his preseason debut on Friday by catching three passes and returning the game's opening kickoff for a touchdown. There's no doubt Henderson is an explosive player, but Stevenson is an established veteran who has averaged at least 12 carries per game in three straight seasons. Henderson profiles as a mid-tier RB2 in fantasy, but he has massive upside if he can seize the lion's share of the backfield touches in New England.

The 31-year-old had been on the injured list since June 7 due to right elbow discomfort, and this latest setback is expected to sideline him for eight to 10 months. That timeline erases any slim hopes of a return this year and likely pushes his availability well into the 2026 season. Gonsolin has now lost two straight seasons to major arm injuries after missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He managed just seven starts in 2025, struggling to a 5.00 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and .244 opponents average. Justin Fields has been "mostly playing it safe" in the passing game in practices, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Rosenblatt notes that Fields has been throwing a lot of "quick slants, dump offs, (and) screens." Fields set a career-high in air yards per pass attempt (7.21) in 10 games last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but has typically been more comfortable checking down to underneath targets than most mobile quarterbacks. Although Penning had to be carted off the field, it appears he avoided a serious injury. While the fourth-year man served as a tackle from 2022-24, starting a career-high 17 games on the right side last season, the Saints' new coaching staff kicked him inside to guard. The reviews have been positive so far, and Penning allowed zero pressures on 20 snaps in the preseason opener before leaving early. Alvarez will most likely need a minor-league rehab assignment after that, but if he can avoid another setback with his hand, he could return to Houston's lineup as the everyday DH in mid-August. Victor Mederos from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, and he will make the spot start against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers after left-hander
Tyler Anderson (back) was scratched from his scheduled start. Mederos, a 24-year-old Cuban native, will be making his first start in the big leagues in just his 10th overall appearance. He made his big-league debut with the Halos back in 2023 and has allowed 12 earned runs on 14 hit (one homer) while walking 13 and striking out 12 in his 12 1/3 innings in the majors. In 19 starts at Salt Lake and High-A Tri-City this year, Medero has a 3.41 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 85:37 K:BB in 103 innings pitched. In what will likely be just one spot start, fantasy managers should look elsewhere against the first-place Dodgers, even if the reigning World Series champs have been cold of late.

Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday through the NHL Players Association. He has decided to hang up his skates following a 13-year career, during which Ruhwedel made 369 regular-season appearances. The San Diego-born blue-liner recorded 50 points (13 goals, 37 assists), along with 350 blocks and 622 hits. Ruhwedel, who was not drafted, started his career with the Buffalo Sabres and also suited up for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. He won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2017. The Rangers used Ruhwedel in five games last season.
