New Orleans Saints left guard Trevor Penning (foot) will miss a few weeks after suffering a foot injury in the team's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Although Penning had to be carted off the field, it appears he avoided a serious injury. While the fourth-year man served as a tackle from 2022-24, starting a career-high 17 games on the right side last season, the Saints' new coaching staff kicked him inside to guard. The reviews have been positive so far, and Penning allowed zero pressures on 20 snaps in the preseason opener before leaving early. If he's able to return for the Saints' Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, it would be a plus for their starting quarterback, whether it's Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough, as well as their Alvin Kamara-led running game.--Connor Byrne
