Kansas City Royals starting pitcher
Michael Wacha pitched seven shutout innings and earned his second win of the season in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the White Sox. He allowed three hits and one walk while striking out five. The 33-year-old veteran has been solid as of late, as this was his sixth straight start of at least five innings while allowing three runs or less. He won't blow away hitters with his stuff, but he has gotten the job done to the tune of a 2.98 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 34 strikeouts in 45 ⅓ innings so far in 2025. He'll look to keep the momentum going in his next start, set to be against the Astros in Houston.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher
Cristopher Sanchez was dominant on Wednesday, pitching six shutout innings and earning the win in a 7-0 victory against the Rays. He allowed one hit and three walks while striking out five. He's only allowed more than two runs in a start one time all season, and he now holds a 2.89 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings. Although he didn't strike out many batters in this start, he limited the damage by inducing ground balls. This isn't anything new for the left-hander, whose 58.3% ground ball rate in 2024 ranked in the top five percent of the league. He'll look to keep things going in his next outing, which is currently lined up to be against the Cardinals.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect
Bubba Chandler was uncharacteristically ineffective for Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, lasting just 2 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five. The performance may temporarily mute the calls for the Pirates to bring him up, but it doesn't change the assertion that he is ready for the big leagues. Even after this rough outing, the righty still owns a strong 2.25 ERA and 0.93 WHIP along with 41 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched. Look for the Pirates' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 12) to get back on track in his next start and be in the majors by mid-June. The 6-foot-3 hurler remains a top stash candidate in redraft leagues.

Boston Red Sox outfielder
Wilyer Abreu tallied three extra-base hits in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers. He hit two home runs and one double while collecting two runs and three RBI. He is starting to heat back up at the plate again, as he now has three home runs in his past three games. The 25-year-old is slashing an excellent .294/.400/.580 on the season with nine home runs, 25 RBI, 22 runs, and four stolen bases. This is continuing to look like a true breakout season for the youngster, and he is even valuable in points leagues thanks to his 15.0% walk rate.

Luis F. Castillo was traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations and was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. He'll serve as rotation depth for the Orioles just as he did for the Mariners, who he made two starts for this season. In those two starts, he allowed six earned runs on 12 hits and seven walks through seven innings. That type of performance won't make him fantasy relevant, but there's always a chance that Baltimore can unlock something new in the right-hander.

Washington Nationals outfield prospect
Robert Hassell III has caught fire at Triple-A Rochester since the calendar turned to May, going 13-for-23 (.565) over his last six games, including a double and two home runs. Notably, the 23-year-old has also struck out just one time so far in May over 24 plate appearances (4.2 percent) compared to a 24.1 percent strikeout rate prior to May. The recent hot stretch has raised the left-handed hitter's season slash line to .301/.348/.390 with two home runs and seven stolen bases. The 35th-ranked prospect in all of baseball after the 2023 season has faded from the top 100, but as an eighth-overall draft pick, the 6-foot-1 slugger could be starting to finally live up to expectations. The Nats do not have a need for his bat in the majors at the moment, but he is expected to debut this season. If Hassell were to get the call, though, he'd likely only be rosterable in NL-only leagues until he proves himself.

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman
Freddie Freeman has been on fire at the plate over the last few weeks. He continued his impressive stretch of play during Wednesday's game against the Miami Marlins. Freeman broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning. An inning later, Freeman would clear the bases with a three-run triple. He would end his day 3-for-4 with a triple, and four RBI in the win. Freeman was unstoppable during this three-game series as he knocked in eight runs. He is in the middle of a 12-game hit streak and continues to be one of the best hitters in baseball.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder
Corbin Carroll continued his MVP-type season during Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Carroll refused to get out as he reached base in all four of his plate appearances. His biggest contribution of the game came in the eighth inning when he hit his 11th home run of the season off
Max Kranick. Carroll would finish this game 2-for-2 with a homer, one RBI, and two walks in the loss. The 24-year-old is putting up MVP numbers right now and has homered in two of his last three games.

New York Mets starting pitcher
Kodai Senga didn't have the best start to the game, but he was able to have success during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right-hander allowed five walks over the first few innings of this contest. Luckily, Senga was able to work around the walks as he threw six shutout innings. He allowed two hits, five walks, and struck out four batters over his six innings of work. He'll take a 1.16 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 35/17 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Senga has been excellent this season as he has allowed two earned runs or less in all seven of his starts this season.

San Diego Padres starting pitcher
Dylan Cease (undisclosed) made an early exit from Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees. Cease was cruising along and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Wednesday's contest. However, Cease gave up a solo home run to
Cody Bellinger to break up the no-no. After that, Cease was forced to exit with a trainer due to an undisclosed injury, but he appeared to be looking at his right hand. The organization should give an update on his status, but hopefully it was only a cramp or something minor. He finished his outing throwing 6 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, while striking out nine batters. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update on his status. Before exiting, Cease appeared to be pleading his case to remain in the game, for what it's worth.

J.T. Realmuto (foot) was taken out early during Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Realmuto suffered a bruised left foot when he fouled a ball off it during the seventh inning of this contest. The Phillies pulled him out of the contest and the expectation is that Realmuto will undergo additional testing. For now, fantasy managers should consider Realmuto as day-to-day until more information is released. Before exiting, Realmuto went 0-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a run scored.
Rafael Marchan took over behind the plate and figures to see more playing time if Realmuto misses time.

Juan Soto came up clutch for his team during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Soto was quiet in the game until he blasted a solo home run off right-hander
Merrill Kelly in the sixth inning. It was a 427-foot blast that would give the Mets the lead in this contest. Soto wasn't done as he connected again for a home run off lefty
Jalen Beeks in the eighth inning. Soto finished the game 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in the win. Soto got off to an average start to the season, but has been hot with the bat over the last week. Fantasy managers are finally getting the results they expected out of Soto.

Chicago Cubs right-handed reliever
Ryan Brasier (groin) is scheduled to start his minor-league rehab outing with an appearance for Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday night. Brasier allowed one run in his lone inning of work in Tokyo, Japan, against the Los Angeles Dodgers to kick off the 2025 regular season, but he hasn't pitched since due to a strained left groin. The 37-year-old veteran is now ready to resume pitching in games, though, so he should be able to return to Chicago's less-than-stellar bullpen by mid-May. Brasier missed time due to a calf injury last year but was mostly solid when he was on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 29 outings (four starts), posting a 3.54 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and only five walks in 28 innings. Because he's not a big strikeout guy, he's unlikely to become a closing option for the Cubs later this season.
