Sean Murphy Done for the Year With Hip Labral Tear
Sean Murphy (hip) on the 10-day injured list with a right-hip labral tear and selected the contract of catcher Sandy Leon from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresonding move. The injury will sideline Murphy for the rest of the regular season, and Leon will take over backup duties behind impressive rookie Drake Baldwin. The 30-year-old Murphy is expected to undergo surgery on his hip that will keep him sidelined for roughly four months this offseason. It's an injury that Murphy had been dealing with sporadically for the last three years, so he has decided to get it taken care with Atlanta's playoff hopes out the window. The former All-Star has now hit under .200 in back-to-back seasons, although he now has 47 home runs and 138 RBI in his three seasons with Atlanta.
