Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher
Max Scherzer (forearm, thumb) mentioned he was dealing with some fatigue in his right thumb following Monday's start. This explains why Scherzer was pulled out after only 71 pitches over five innings of work against the New York Yankees. Scherzer also said he started feeling forearm tightness on Monday. It's worth noting that Scherzer has only made three starts this season due to thumb issues. At the moment, Scherzer is on track to make his next start against the Los Angeles Angels this weekend. However, Scherzer's status could quickly change if his tightness and fatigue don't get better in the coming days.

New York Mets starting pitcher
Kodai Senga (hamstring) threw a live batting practice session on Sunday. This was the first time that Senga has faced live hitters since landing on the injured list in early June. The next step is for Senga to throw a bullpen session and go through some fielding practice. If everything goes well, Senga should be cleared to go on a rehab assignment. The right-hander is working his way back from a Grade 1 hamstring strain. The expectation is that Senga won't be back in the rotation until mid-July. Fantasy managers will just have to hold tight for a few more weeks.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher
Chris Sale (ribs) has been transferred to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. This is a procedural move in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander
Hunter Stratton. Sale was placed on the injured list in late June due to a ribcage fracture. The organization is hopeful Sale is able to pitch again this season, but this move holds Sale out until August 20. For now,
Didier Fuentes will stick in the rotation, but that could change. The hope is that fantasy managers will still be able to get something out of Sale before the season is over.

Texas Rangers outfielder
Evan Carter (personal) has been placed on the bereavement list, so he'll miss the next few games. Carter is currently away from the team while attending his grandfather's funeral. His exact return date is unclear, but the expectation is that he'll be back before Friday's series opener against the San Diego Padres.
Billy McKinney will take over the active roster spot for a few days. In the meantime,
Alejandro Osuna,
Adolis Garcia, and
Sam Haggerty will cover the outfield for Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman
Nolan Arenado (finger) will be held out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates. According to Katie Woo, Arenado is dealing with a sprained right finger that he suffered over the weekend. For now, Arenado is considered day-to-day and will hopefully avoid a trip to the injured list. There's a good chance that Arenado sits out Wednesday as well with a scheduled off day on Thursday. That means that Arenado would get a few days off to recover before beginning an important weekend series against the Chicago Cubs.
Nolan Gorman will bat fifth and cover third base versus right-hander

Athletics shortstop
Jacob Wilson (hamstring) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the hosting Tampa Bay Rays due to right-hamstring soreness, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Manager Mark Kotsay said that Wilson woke up feeling sore in the morning and could also get the series finale in Tampa off before a scheduled day off on Thursday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if Wilson is back in there, but the more likely scenario is that the 23-year-old is held out until Friday's series opener against the San Francisco Giants in Sacramento.
Max Schuemann is now starting at the 6 and will hit ninth on Tuesday against Rays right-hander
Shane Baz. Although Wilson hasn't displayed much power or speed, he's among the hardest in the game to strike out and is currently batting .339 (108-for-319).

The Miami Marlins claimed pitching prospect
Nick Nastrini off of waivers on Tuesday. The 25-year-old was with the Chicago White Sox organization and ranked No. 24 on the team's top prospect list, making nine appearances for the club last year, posting a 7.07 ERA, 1.91 WHIP, and more walks (36) than strikeouts (26) in 35 2/3 innings pitched. The righty had made 20 appearances (six starts) at Triple-A Charlotte in 2025, recording a 7.51 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and a 4.3 percent K-BB%. The 6-foot-3 hurler has been assigned to Triple-A Jacksonville, and although the numbers don't look great, he's a former fourth-rounder and maybe a new environment will unlock his true potential. He's off the fantasy radar in all formats, though.

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander
Brandon Woodruff (ankle, elbow, shoulder) said he's ready to take the mound for his 2025 season debut for the Brewers next week in Miami against the Marlins. Woodruff didn't have the best showing in his final minor-league rehab start on Sunday with Triple-A Nashville, but he got up to 80 pitches over 3 2/3 innings, and most importantly, he didn't have any physical setbacks. The 32-year-old former ace had right-shoulder surgery in the fall of 2023 and missed all of 2024 before suffering ankle and elbow setbacks on his rehab assignment this year. The Brewers could ease Woodruff back in given the long layoff, but he should be rostered in all fantasy formats and will be a tempting lineup option in his first start of the season next week against the Fish.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder
Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) had left-shoulder-stabilization surgery on Tuesday and will miss the rest of the 2025 season, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. It's the second time that Mitchell will have surgery on his left shoulder, and his goal will now be to get ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. The 26-year-old former 20th overall pick in 2020 out of UCLA just has not been able to stay healthy since making his major-league debut back in 2022, as he hasn't played over 69 games in a single season in Milwaukee. While Mitchell has displayed intriguing power and speed when healthy for the Brewers, this latest injury setback could have dynasty/keeper managers cutting the cord. Not helping Mitchell's cause in Milwaukee is the fact that they have plenty of outfield depth.

Zach Neto (shoulder) is back at the 6 and is batting leadoff for Tuesday's series opener in Atlanta against Braves right-hander
Grant Holmes. Neto jammed his surgically-repaired right shoulder while sliding into second base late last week and missed the next four games. However, he thankfully avoided any structural damage and will return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener at Truist Park. The 24-year-old former 13th overall pick in 2022 out of Campbell is one of the best young rising shortstops in the game and should be returned to all fantasy lineups this week. He comes into Tuesday's tilt riding a .273/.316/.486 slash line with an .802 OPS, 12 home runs, 29 RBI, 46 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 249 at-bats. In the last two weeks, Neto has gone 9-for-34 (.265) with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and a steal.

Tyler Soderstrom is out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday versus the hosting Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field. With Soderstrom getting a day off, rookie outfielder
Colby Thomas will make his first major-league start in left field and batting eighth against Rays right-hander
Shane Baz. This will be Soderstrom's second day off of the 2025 season. The 23-year-old left-handed slugger has been a strong source of power in his third season in the big leagues, clubbing 14 home runs and driving in 47 while batting .253/.336/.429 with a career-best .766 OPS in 86 games played. Thomas has intriguing power and speed, but it remains to be seen how much playing time he'll get with the A's. The former third-rounder hit an impressive .297 (92-for-310) with 17 homers, 70 RBI and seven steals in 76 games in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League for Triple-A Las Vegas.
