Former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo suffered a second-round TKO loss to former interim bantamweight title challenger Cory Sandhagen in the main event of UFC Des Moines on Saturday. Figueiredo had problems with closing the distance and with Sandhagen's reach. Former champion Figueiredo was dominated for the majority of the fight, up until the referee jumped in to stop the fight due to Figueiredo's knee injury. In the main event of UFC Des Moines, former interim bantamweight title challenger Cory Sandhagen got back in the win column by defeating former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo via second-round TKO. The fight was stopped in the second round when Figueiredo suffered a knee injury. Up until that point, Sandhagen looked great, dominating the majority of the contest. Reinier de Ridder extended his win streak to four when he defeated previously undefeated Bo Nickal via second-round TKO in the co-main event of UFC Des Moines on Saturday. After a competitive first round, de Ridder started pressuring Nickal in the second round, pushing him to the fence and punishing him with punches and knees to the body. After landing a barrage of punches on Nickal, de Ridder landed a devastating knee to the body that folded Nickal, forcing the referee to stop the fight. On Saturday, Bo Nickal suffered a second-round TKO loss to Reinier de Ridder in the co-main event of UFC Des Moines. Santiago Ponzinibbio suffered a third-round TKO loss to Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Des Moines on Saturday. Ponzinibbio was almost finished in the first round, but he managed to stay composed long enough to survive and make it out of the round. Ponzinibbio attempted six takedowns but only managed to take Rodriguez down once. In the third round, Rodriguez landed a left hook that sent Ponzinibbio falling to the mat. After that, Rodriguez landed a single blow as he followed Ponzinibbio down, forcing the referee to stop the fight. Daniel Marcos suffered a unanimous decision loss to Montel Jackson on the main card of UFC Des Moines on Saturday. Marcos came into the bout undefeated at 17-0 and was looking to break into the top 15. The fight was largely uneventful, but in the end, it was Jackson who did enough to earn a unanimous decision win. In 15 minutes of action, Marcos landed three takedowns and only 17 significant strikes.
