ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Cincinnati Reds are acquiring third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, according to sources. The Reds will sent shortstop Sammy Stafura and left-handed reliever Taylor Rogers to the Pirates in exchange. Although Hayes has been a disappointment offensively since being taken in the first round in 2015, the 28-year-old is one of the best defensive third basemen in the league and has five years of club control after the 2025 campaign. Hayes should take over at third base in Cincy moving forward, which is bad news for Noelvi Marte. However, he has hit just .236/.279/.290 with two home runs in 100 games this year and won't really be an offensive upgrade as the Reds look to make a run at a wild-card spot. Still, Hayes' minimal fantasy appeal is on the rise with the move to a better ballpark and lineup.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Jeff Passan

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez (ankle) is expected to begin running the bases by Friday in Toronto, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. Gimenez could begin a minor-league rehab assignment shortly after that if all goes well. The 26-year-old infielder has been out since early July with a sprained left ankle, but if he doesn't have any setbacks, he could be cleared to come off the 10-day injured list by the middle of next week. When fully healthy, Gimenez is the regular starting first baseman for Toronto, although he's a better defender than he is on offense. The Venezuelan left-handed hitter is batting just .218 (46-for-211) on the year with five home runs, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and 10 stolen bases, making him mostly a middle-infield depth piece for his modest speed in AL-only fantasy formats.--Keith HernandezSource: Sportsnet.ca - Arden Zwelling

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) is tentatively on track to play in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, which puts him on track to be activated from the seven-day injured list on Sunday if all goes well over the next few games, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. A foul tip to Kirk's mask last weekend ended up giving him a minor concussion, but he's made good progress and could rejoin Toronto's lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. Ali Sanchez got the start for Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, but Tyler Heineman has seen most of the playing time behind the dish with Kirk out. Kirk made the All-Star squad for the second time in his career this year and will be returning to a strong .304/.361/.413 slash line. He doesn't have much power, but fantasy managers aren't complaining at the weak catching spot.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Keegan Matheson

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (ribs) will play shortstop in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday and could come off the injured list to rejoin the Astros before Friday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Pena went 0-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored as the designated hitter for Sugar Land in his first rehab game on Tuesday. The Astros aren't expecting the 27-year-old to need many games in the minors before having him rejoin the big-league squad this weekend. Pena shouldn't be floating around on any waiver wires despite spending time on the 10-day IL. The Dominican infielder is having a career year for the Astros, slashing .322/.378/.489 with an .867 OPS, 11 homers, 40 RBI, 48 runs and 15 steals in 317 at-bats.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Brian McTaggart

The trade market for Minnesota Twins closer Jhoan Duran is heating up, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, with the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox being among the many teams pursuing him. Heyman also lists the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Seattle Mariners as other teams in the mix. The 27-year-old Dominican right-hander is extremely attractive at this year's trade deadline and would be a huge upgrade for any team's bullpen for the stretch run. Duran throws over 100 mph and has a 2.01 ERA (2.49 FIP), a 1.18 WHIP, 16 saves and a 53:18 K:BB in 49 1/3 relief innings this year in his fourth season with the Twins. He has 74 career saves and could become even more valuable in fantasy, depending on where he is traded. If Duran is traded, Griffin Jax or Louis Varland could see save chances for the Twins.--Keith HernandezSource: New York Post - Jon Heyman

The Los Angeles Angels acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin and right-handed reliever Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league first baseman Sam Brown and left-hander Jake Eder, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Angels are officially buyers at this year's trade deadline despite being four games out of the final American League wild-card spot with four teams in front of them, although this is a minor trade. The 35-year-old Chafin will give the Halos another lefty for their bullpen after posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.60 ERA and 18:12 K:BB in 20 innings with the Nats this year. Garcia has already pitched for Washington and the Dodgers this year and will return to Anaheim after being traded from the Angels to Red Sox a year ago. The 38-year-old has struggled with a 4.10 ERA in 37 1/3 total innings in 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Chicago Cubs at American Family Field. Blake Perkins is taking over in center field and will hit eighth against Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga. The Brewers will give Chourio the day off after he was pulled early from Tuesday's victory with right-hamstring spasms. The Brewers have a scheduled day off on Thursday, so the 21-year-old will have two straight days off before potentially returning for Friday's series opener in D.C. against the Washington Nationals. Fantasy managers should consider Chourio, a must-start when healthy, as day-to-day for now and hope he returns this weekend. Perkins has only two career at-bats against Imanaga and has a two-run homer against him.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Kansas City Royals second baseman Jonathan India (shoulder) dealt with a sore shoulder after Tuesday's game and will take a seat for Wednesday's contest against the Atlanta Braves, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Manager Matt Quatraro said that India is available, but the team is being cautious with him with an off day coming on Thursday. Veteran Adam Frazier is starting at second base and will bat seventh on Wednesday against Braves left-hander Joey Wentz. It's possible that India will be ready to return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays in Canada. The 28-year-old former fifth overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 2018 out of Florida hasn't been very productive in his first year in KC, slashing a mediocre .240/.322/.342 with a career-low .664 OPS, only five home runs an 32 RBI in 100 games played.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Anne Rogers

Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson has ended his holdout and has reported to training camp, but FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz says it's his understanding that Hendrickson plans to stay engaged in meetings and around the team as he continues to wait for a new deal. The 30-year-old four-time Pro Bowler has ended his holdout, but now he's holding in and won't practice with the team until a new deal is reached. The hope is that now he's back with the team, it will ease contract talks and the two sides can finally get something done ahead of the 2025 regular-season opener. It remains to be seen if Hendrickson is serious about sitting out regular-season games if he still doesn't have a new deal by then. Hendrickson is entering the final year of his current deal and is scheduled to make $15.8 million in base salary in 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a four-year contract extension on Wednesday with president of football operations/general manager John Schneider, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. The deal will keep Schneider around through the 2030 NFL draft and will take him through at least his 20th draft with the organization. Schneider has been Seattle's GM since the 2010 season and added the title of executive vice president in 2013. The 54-year-old also gained the title of president of football operations after former head coach Pete Carroll was fired after the 2023 season. Schneider made some big moves this offseason, trading away both quarterback Geno Smith and wide receiver DK Metcalf while also signing quarterback Sam Darnold in free agency.--Keith HernandezSource: FOX Sports - Jay Glazer

Los Angeles Angels outfield prospect Matthew Lugo continued to swing a hot bat at Triple-A on Tuesday evening. Facing Oklahoma City, Lugo went 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run. He also drew a walk and swiped a bag. Over his last six contests, Lugo has posted an elite .405/.542/1.000 slash line with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and three stolen bases. The former second-round pick made his MLB debut earlier this season and flashed solid power upside, showing promise in his brief taste. Across 17 games, Lugo held a .238/.256/.548 slash line with two doubles and three long balls. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the Angels will likely give Lugo another taste of the big leagues later in the second half.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri struck out six hitters across six innings on Tuesday evening, facing Double-A Binghamton. This was his second-straight start in which he tossed six shutout innings. Since the start of the month (23 innings), Aldegheri has been very productive on the bump, posting an elite 0.76 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. During this stretch, Aldegheri has struck out 19 hitters but has allowed 10 walks. Earlier this season, the southpaw was in his second taste of the majors but allowed seven runs (five earned) across 4 1/3 innings of work. During the 2024 season, Aldegheri made his MLB debut and held a 4.85 ERA through 13 innings. Given his recent stretch, Aldegheri could be bumped up to Triple-A in the near future.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet will have his next start pushed back to Monday or Tuesday, with manager Alex Cora citing workload management. The 26-year-old lefty has been dominant in 2025, going 12-4 with a 2.23 ERA and an MLB-best 175 strikeouts. After logging 141 1/3 innings this season, just shy of last year's career-high 146, Boston is taking a cautious approach with their $170 million investment. With a playoff berth within reach, the Red Sox are prioritizing Crochet's health for the stretch run. Fantasy managers should expect extra days between starts down the stretch, though Crochet remains a must-start whenever he's on the mound.--Shaun AlbinSource: Tim Healey

Minnesota Twins outfielder Walker Jenkins went 3-for-5 with a double and a long ball during their contest against Double-A Amarillo on Tuesday evening. This was a nice breakout game for the top-ranked prospect in Minnesota as he went just 1-for-15 over his last five contests. However, prior to this brief skid, Jenkins held an elite .338/.457/.508 slash line with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and three stolen bases over his last 17 games with Double-A. Through 32 games with Double-A Wichita this summer, Jenkins has posted an impressive .277/.397/.429 line. Despite his injury history, when healthy, Jenkins is one of the most productive bats in the minor leagues. He is worth closely monitoring as he should be given the call to Triple-A in the coming weeks.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hand) is targeting a return to the lineup when first eligible on Aug. 15. Limited to just 29 games this season due to a right-hand fracture suffered in May, Alvarez has been a major missing piece in Houston's lineup. With Isaac Paredes potentially out for the year, Alvarez's return would provide a much-needed middle-of-the-order boost. His presence would also offer protection for slumping bats like Yainer Diaz and Christian Walker. If healthy, Alvarez could be a difference-maker for the Astros' playoff push and a major fantasy asset in the season's final weeks.--Shaun AlbinSource: Michael Schwab

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Josue De Paula (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at High-A Great Lakes. De Paula recently took home the MVP from the Futures Game during All-Star weekend. Throughout the regular season, De Paula has emerged as one of the top bats in the Dodger system. Through 82 games with High-A, the No. 1-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has posted an impressive .262/.409/.416 slash line with an .825 OPS, 12 doubles, 10 home runs, and 28 stolen bases. This is a great sign as he posted a much lower .254 AVG with a .778 OPS during his first stint at High-A last summer. When he returns from the IL, he could contend for a late-season taste of Double-A. De Paula is a fast-rising prospect in dynasty formats and could push for a late-season 2026 MLB debut.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes (hamstring) may miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to a potential surgery. The injury deals a major blow to Houston's lineup as they gear up for a playoff run. With the trade deadline approaching, the Astros are exploring replacements, including Nolan Arenado, Eugenio Suarez, and a possible reunion with Carlos Correa. Correa, a former franchise cornerstone, is seen as the most likely target. Fantasy managers in redraft formats can move on from Paredes and monitor who fills the void in Houston's lineup for potential waiver pickups.--Shaun AlbinSource: Bob Nightengale

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect Hurston Waldrep tossed seven shutout innings en route to picking up the victory over Triple-A Durham on Tuesday evening. In this outing, the right-hander allowed just five hits and one walk. He struck out eight. Since the start of the month, the 23-year-old has put together a strong stretch of outings and could be nearing a return to the major leagues. Since July 1, Waldrep has posted an impressive 0.78 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP. During these 23 innings of work, the right-hander struck out 23 hitters and allowed just 10 walks. However, during June, he held a much higher 6.23 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be in the mix to earn his second taste of the majors with Atlanta falling out of the playoff picture.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (ankle) is out of Wednesday's training camp practice after injuring his ankle on Tuesday, according to Chiefs beat writer Matt McMullen. In addition to Brown, receivers Xavier Worthy (concussion) and Skyy Moore (hamstring) are out after they also were hurt in Tuesday's practice. The good news for the Chiefs receiver room is that none of their injuries appear very serious, so hopefully they will be back sooner than later. Brown suffered a shoulder injury in camp last year that ended up limiting him to just two regular-season games in his first year in KC. The 28-year-old was able to play in three playoff games, too, but he didn't really stand out. When both Rashee Rice and Worthy are healthy, Brown will probably operate as the WR3. He has missed 23 games due to injuries in the last three seasons.--Keith HernandezSource: Chiefs.com - Matt McMullen

Chicago White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday, fueling speculation that a trade is in the works ahead of Thursday's deadline. The 31-year-old has quietly put together a career year for the struggling South Siders, posting a 6-2 record with a stellar 2.10 ERA. Houser has been more effective across the board in 2025, lowering his batting average against to .248 (down 24 points from last year), while increasing his strikeout rate to 17.1% and trimming his walk rate to 8%. His improved command and contact suppression make him an appealing mid-rotation option for contenders. From a fantasy perspective, Houser is worth a speculative pickup in deeper redraft leagues. If dealt to a winning club with better run support and bullpen help, his value could rise significantly in the second half.--Shaun AlbinSource: Jon Heyman

The New York Yankees have traded right-handed pitching prospect Gage Ziehl to the Chicago White Sox. In return, the Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Slater. Before the trade, Ziehl was considered the No. 16-ranked prospect in the Yankee system on MLB.com. Ziehl made his professional debut at the start of the campaign as he joined the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Miami. He began the season with Low-A and logged 74 1/3 innings to the tune of a 4.00 ERA before moving up to High-A. With High-A, Ziehl needed to appear in just one game before getting the call to join Double-A. In his first four innings at Double-A, Ziehl allowed four runs but struck out four. Fantasy managers should expect the 22-year-old to remain at Double-A through the back half of the season.--Andy SmithSource: Mark Feinsand

ESPN's Stephen Holder writes that the Indianapolis Colts quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson Sr. and Daniel Jones remains tight in training camp, with neither signal-caller putting distance between them. Head coach Shane Steichen called the QB battle "neck and neck." The Athletic's Zak Keefer writes that Richardson "was sharper during the team's first two padded practices." Richardson, the former fourth overall pick, has been a disappointment in his first two NFL seasons due to injuries and inconsistent performances. The young QB has missed 17 games due to injury and was benched midway through 2024 in favor of Joe Flacco. His completion percentage was a league-low 47.7%. Despite the early disappointment, GM Chris Ballard has faith in Richardson long term, even if he loses the battle to Jones this summer. Richardson's rushing upside is elite, but he must become a more complete QB to realize his QB1 potential.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Stephen Holder

The New York Yankees bolstered their outfield depth on Wednesday, acquiring veteran Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox ahead of the trade deadline. Slater, 32, brings value as a platoon bat, especially against left-handed pitching, where he's slashing .261/.338/.522 this season. With Aaron Judge currently sidelined, Slater could step in immediately to provide coverage in the outfield. He's shown surprising pop this year, hitting five home runs in just 51 games while posting a career-best 91.6 mph average exit velocity. From a fantasy perspective, Slater should be on the radar in deeper redraft leagues, particularly those with daily lineup changes or five outfield spots. If he sees regular playing time against lefties in a potent Yankees lineup, he could offer sneaky value as a short-term power contributor.--Shaun AlbinSource: Jeff Passan
