Alex Verdugo, Eli White Platooning in Left Field
Eli White in left field against left-handed pitchers, while Alex Verdugo will be in left field against right-handers, as he was for all three games against the San Diego Padres over the weekend. White has hit .291 with nine extra-base hits and an .814 OPS in 87 plate appearances against right-handers. Verdugo has hit .309 with eight extra-base hits and a .760 OPS in 100 plate appearances against right-handers. But White hits from the right side and Verdugo hits from the left side, so the Braves will go with a straight platoon in left field, at least for the time being. "Honestly, I'm not going to rule out anything," Snitker said. "But my plan when we got Ronald (back) was, it's gonna obviously push Eli off of right field. And I think I felt like we'd have kind of a good right-left option in left."Source: The Athletic - David O'Brien
Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said he would start Ryan Ritter Slugs Three Homers, Extends Hit Streak to 11 Games
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Ryan Ritter slugged three home runs for Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, now with 12 on the year, which is tied for the second-most in all of Triple-A. The Rockies' 12th-ranked prospect hasread more...
Chris Sale Turning Things Around
Chris Sale had an 0-2 record with a 6.17 ERA, 36 hits allowed (four homers) and nine walks in 28 1/3 innings in his first six starts. But since then, the 36-year-old veteran southpaw has turned things around, posting a 1.64 ERA with 46 strikeouts, nine walks and 32 hits allowed (three homers) in 38 1/3 innings over six starts. He's worked at least 6 2/3 innings in four of his last five starts, including seven innings in each of his last two times out. Sale said he was watching plenty of video and pitching-motion skeletal biomechanics during his rough patch early on to try and figure out what he needed to tweak. He mentioned that his arm angle had dropped a little bit lower than usual, changing the spin on some of his pitches. Sale's next start will come this week on the road against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, but he'll be a must-start in the tough matchup.Source: The Athletic - David O'Brien
Atlanta Braves left-hander Will Smith Fills Box Score in Win Over Guardians
Will Smith continued his sizzling start to the season in a 7-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday. Smith finished the evening 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks, and an additional run scored. His line is now up to a magnificent .333/.456/.511 with five homers and 28 RBI across 171 plate appearances. While Smith has been adept at drawing walks and limiting strikeouts during his highly productive career, the 30-year-old has been a free pass machine this season. Smith's 18.1% BB rate is easily his best since he debuted in 2019, and he now has more walks (31) than strikeouts (30). Smith occasionally sits in favor of young backup Dalton Rushing, but he's an obvious play for fantasy managers whenever he's in the Dodgers' lineup.Source: ESPN
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Ozzie Albies' Bat Waking Up

Jose Ramirez Extends Hitting Streak to 19 Games
Jose Ramirez was among the team's few bright spots in a 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. Ramirez ended the night 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 19 games. He has also gotten on base in 23 straight contests since April 30. Ramirez's numbers this month are a fantasy manager's dream. He's 32-for-86 with 12 extra-base hits (seven doubles, four home runs, and a triple), 12 RBI, 18 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 8:8 K:BB in May. The switch-hitting superstar will attempt to keep his streaks intact Tuesday against Dodgers right-hander Dustin May, whom he has never faced.Source: ESPN
Cleveland Guardians third baseman Luis Gil Could Throw Off a Mound on Friday
Source: MLB.com - Bryan Hoch
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that right-hander Lui Gil (lat) could throw from a mound on Friday before the team's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, which would be the first time Gil has done so since late February. "Feeling really good," Boone said. Gi has been out all season to this point with a lat strain that he suffered in spring training, and there still isn't a firm timetable on his return. The 26-year-old needs a full spring training-like build-up, though, so he probably won't make his 2025 debut until at least late June. By that time, it will be difficult for the Dominican hurler to match his production from a year ago, when he won the American League Rookie of the Year award with a 16-8 record, 3.55 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 214 K's in 185 innings over 36 starts. Gil's season-long 4.36 xFIP and .237 BABIP already pointed to regression in 2025.Jonathan Cannon to Start on Tuesday
Jonathan Cannon (back) will make his next start on Tuesday against the hosting New York Mets at Citi Field, according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Kyle Williams. Cannon was scratched from his last scheduled start on Saturday against the Texas Rangers due to tightness in his lower back, but he's obviously feeling better now and will give it a go in a tough matchup against the Mets on the road this week. Even though the 24-year-old has pitched well with three quality starts in four outings in the month of May, Cannon will be a pretty risky fantasy streamer on Tuesday. Overall, the former third-rounder in 2022 out of Georgia has gone 2-5 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with only 42 strikeouts and 17 walks in 55 innings over 10 outings (eight starts). He'll be going up against a Mets team that ranks ninth in MLB with a .732 OPS.Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Kyle Williams
Chicago White Sox right-hander Chase DeLauter Homers for Triple-A Columbus on Monday
Chase DeLauter went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run on Monday for Triple-A Columbus. The former first-round draft pick had sports hernia surgery earlier this year and recently completed a rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League affiliate. In the three games he's played for Columbus, the left-handed slugger has a hit in each of them, going 3-for-10 so far with a 2:2 BB:K. The Guardians' second-ranked prospect has dealt with injuries in each of his first three seasons in the minors, but if he can continue to produce and remain healthy from here on out, the 6-foot-3 slugger has a good chance to make his major league debut later this season and has the tools to have a fantasy impact whenever he gets the call.Source: MiLB.com
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Garrett Crochet Fans 11 in Monday's Loss to Brewers
Garrett Crochet (4-4) suffered his fourth loss of 2025 in a 3-2 decision against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. It was a hard-luck outcome for Crochet, who tossed 6 2/3 innings of two-run, five-hit ball with a season-high 11 strikeouts against two walks. The 25-year-old has surrendered more than two earned runs in just one of his dozen starts in 2025. He now boasts a superb 2.04 ERA with 89 strikeouts and 24 walks through 75 innings. Crochet will return to the hill on June 2 to face the Los Angeles Angels' middle-of-the-pack offense.Source: ESPN
Boston Red Sox left-handed ace Xavier Edwards Doing Baseball Activities
Xavier Edwards (back) continue to do baseball activities during his rehab from a left mid-back strain, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. Edwards landed on the 10-day injured list back on May 18. It's good news that he's doing baseball activities, but he has yet to face live pitching and will most likely need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the IL. Barring a setback, it will probably be another week or two before he has a chance to return. But when he does, Edwards will return to being Miami's starting shortstop. The 25-year-old switch-hitter doesn't have any power, but he's a speed threat at the position after stealing 31 bags in 70 games last year. Before his injury, Edwards was slashing .263/.337/.292 with no homers, 11 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 42 games played.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola
Miami Marlins shortstop Dane Myers to Begin Rehab Assignment on Tuesday

Jacob Misiorowski Strikes Out Eight in Four Innings on Monday
Jacob Misiorowski threw four innings for Triple-A Nashville on Monday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out eight. The righty needed 87 pitches to get through the outing, throwing 56 of them for strikes. Still, the performance kept his ERA at a pristine 1.60 for the year, while also boasting a 0.98 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 56 1/3 IP. The Brewers' fourth-ranked prospect (MLB No. 72) has little left to prove in Triple-A and figures to make a debut in the majors sometime in June. The 6-foot-7 hurler is one of the top prospect stashes who could provide solid strikeout totals and would be rosterable in deep 12-team leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Eury Perez to Make Second Rehab Start at Triple-A on Wednesday
Eury Perez (elbow) will make his second minor-league rehab start at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. In his first rehab start with Jacksonville last Wednesday, the 22-year-old gave up two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out seven in 3 1/3 innings. Before that in five rehab starts for Single-A Jupiter, Perez had a 1.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and three walks in 10 innings. The Dominican hurler didn't pitch at all in 2024 after having Tommy John surgery, but barring a setback on his rehab assignment, he should make his 2025 debut with the Fish before the All-Star break in mid-July. Perez had 108 K's in 91 1/3 innings over his first 19 big-league starts in 2023, but fantasy managers might want to temper expectations upon his return, especially since the Marlins will likely have him on an inning limit.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola
Miami Marlins right-hander Victor Mesa Jr. Called Up by Marlins
Victor Mesa Jr. from Triple-A Jacksonville and placed outfielder Derek Hill (wrist) on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist sprain in a corresponding move. Mesa, the team's No. 26 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres, but he could see regular playing time in center field going forward with both Hill and Dane Myers (oblique) on the injured list at the moment. The 23-year-old Cuban gets his first call to the big leagues after dealing with a right-hamstring injury earlier this year and hitting .250 (14-for-56) with a homer, eight RBI and five runs scored in 16 games with Single-A Jupiter and Jacksonville. Mesa has surprising pop for a 5-foot-11, 195-pounder, but it hasn't showed up in the minors so far this year.Source: Miami Marlins
