Camilo Doval to Replace Ryan Walker as Giants Closer
Camilo Doval will take over as the team's primary closer over right-hander Ryan Walker, according to manager Bob Melvin. Doval hasn't allowed a run in his last 19 appearances while posting a sharp 1.16 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, five saves, 20 strikeouts and eight walks in his 23 1/3 relief innings in 2025. Last year, the 27-year-old had a career-worst 4.88 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 23 saves in 59 innings pitched, but the year prior in 2023, he made his first All-Star team and led the league with 39 saves in 69 appearances. Doval has looked much more like the pitcher from 2023 so far in 2025 and will now move forward as San Fran's primary closer. Fantasy managers need to add him immediately off the waiver wire if he's available. Walker has converted his last three save chances but came into Wednesday's game with an ERA over 5.00. He'll still be valuable in holds leagues.
