Elly De La Cruz Goes Deep Twice in Win Over Royals
Elly De La Cruz crushed a pair of solo home runs to help lead the team to a 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. De La Cruz's first homer, a 436-footer, came in the fourth inning against right-hander Jonathan Bowlen. He followed that up in the sixth with a 451-foot blast into the Kaufman Stadium fountain off righty Taylor Clarke. The switch-hitting 23-year-old finished the night 2-for-4 with a walk and an additional run scored. De La Cruz is now slashing .256/.331/.443 with 11 homers, 40 RBI, and 17 steals over 245 trips to the plate this season. He is currently riding a five-game hitting streak in which he has gone a prolific 8-for-21 with three HRs, seven RBI, and nine runs.
