New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that right-hander Luis Gil (lat) felt find on Monday after starting his throwing program on Sunday. Gil had a small hiccup in his recovery from a right-lat strain that he suffered back in spring training, but he has resumed throwing as he attempts to return to New York's starting rotation. Fantasy managers need to remain patient, though, as the Yankees aren't going to rush him back after being shut down for two months. In a best-case scenario, the 26-year-old hurler will be able to make his 2025 season debut at some point in June. The Dominican pitcher turned heads in his return to the big leagues last year since 2022, going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 171 strikeouts in 29 starts to win American League Rookie of the Year honors. Gil was good for the Yankees last year, but don't forget that he also led the league in walks (77).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: New York Daily News - Gary Phillips

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon (lower body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes. New Jersey has lost several blue-liners to injury during the series, and Dillon continues to deal with a lower-body ailment. The absence of Dillon, Luke Hughes (upper body), and Johnathan Kovacevic (undisclosed) has given rookie Simon Nemec a role in the team, while Dougie Hamilton, Brett Pesce, and Brian Dumoulin are logging big minutes. All three players have averaged at least 24 minutes of ice time during the postseason, with Dumoulin leading the team with 27:22 of ice time per game.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Amanda Stein

New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman (knee) is still dealing with discomfort in his left knee. The 33-year-old has been sidelined with left knee inflammation for the past two weeks and has been on the 15-day injured list. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but since he continues to face limitations, his return window will likely be pushed back. Through his three starts of the season (nine 1/3 innings), the right-hander has held a high 11.57 ERA with a 2.04 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out seven batters but has also served up seven free passes. Last season, Stroman struggled as well, as he posted a 4.31 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP. While Stroman remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Will Warren and Carlos Carrasco to remain in the rotation.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Gary Phillips

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga (elbow) is still a few weeks away from joining the team. Loaisiga will have to get in back-to-back rehab appearances before he's activated from the injured list. When he does return, though, Boone doesn't necessarily view him as a one-inning guy out of the bullpen. The 30-year-old veteran was scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa last Saturday. Loaisiga is attempting to return from an internal-brace procedure that he had on his right elbow just over a year ago. When he's finally ready, he could be a high-leverage option at the back end of New York's bullpen He has only seven saves in his seven years in the big leagues, but he proved in 2023 that he could be a valuable member of the bullpen after posting a 3.06 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 17 appearances in relief.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: New York Daily News - Gary Phillips

New Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's elimination game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Hughes has not played in the first-round series since Game 2 and may have made his final appearances for the season if the Devils cannot win Game 5. Dougie Hamilton will continue to lead the Devils defense on Tuesday night. He has averaged 24:39 of ice time in the series but hasn't performed at his best. Hamilton's offensive impact has been limited to one assist, and he has blocked six shots while delivering 10 hits.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Amanda Stein

Colorado Rockies infielder Ezequiel Tovar (hip) is "not progressing as we'd hoped," according to manager Bud Black. Tovar has been sidelined due to a left hip contusion and is still struggling to field ground balls. Patrick Lyons of JustBBMedia noted that the infielder may still be at least 10 days from returning. Through his first 17 games of the season, Tovar has held a modest .212/.257/.303 slash line with four doubles, one home run, and two stolen bases. However, under the hood, the 23-year-old has generated a strong .266 xBA with a 91.2 mph average exit velocity, which suggests the infielder should see positive regression when he returns to action. While Tovar is sidelined, Kyle Farmer should continue to see most opportunities at shortstop.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Patrick Lyons

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland (toe) won't play on Monday versus Miami. He wasn't available for Saturday's win over the Heat because of a great toe sprain, an injury that bothered him toward the end of the regular season. Sam Merrill got the start in Game 3, although he went scoreless in 19 minutes. Instead, it was De'Andre Hunter and Ty Jerome who shined without Garland, with the duo combining for 34 points, 14 assists, and three steals. DFS managers should continue to see increased involvement from the pair. The same can be said for Max Strus, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Donovan Mitchell.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: Danny Cunningham

Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton (lower body) will not play in Game 5 against the Dallas Stars on Monday night. This will mark Colton's fourth consecutive absence after he sustained a lower-body injury in the series opener. Luckily for the Avalanche, they have Gabriel Landeskog back in the lineup. He is set to continue in a second-line role and on the top power-play unit in Monday's game. Landeskog has registered two points (one goal, one assist) and eight hits in two games since joining the fun in Game 3.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Evan Rawal

Colorado Rockies left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber (shoulder) has yet to throw since his first rehab outing on March 28. The southpaw made one rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque but faced a setback after this start. In this outing, Gomber allowed two runs and three hits, and struck out five batters. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team has yet to provide a definitive timetable for his recovery. Gomber was shifted to the 60-day injured list earlier in April. Last season, Gomber logged a career-high 165 innings to the tune of a 4.75 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. He tallied 116 punchouts but showed strong command of his pitches as he served up walks at an impressive 5.5 percent rate. However, he generated a 5.07 xERA, which placed him in the ninth percentile among qualified pitchers. While he remains sidelined, top prospect Chase Dollander should continue to see opportunities in the major leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Patrick Lyons

Dallas Stars forward Oskar Back (oblique) will rejoin the lineup on Monday against the Colorado Avalanche. He is good to go for Game 5 after missing the previous contest with an oblique injury. Mavrik Bourque filled in for Back on Saturday but made little impact, finishing a 4-0 loss with two shots, one block, and two hits in 13:11 of ice time. Back has averaged 11:28 of ice time in the series, producing one assist and one shot on goal in three games. The Swedish rookie will accompany Sam Steel and Colin Blackwell on the fourth line in Monday's game.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Pierre LeBrun

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman is not in the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium. With Edman starting on the bench on Monday, veteran Miguel Rojas will start at second base and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. Edman currently boasts a modest .243 (26-for-107) batting average in the early going in 2025, but he has also delivered eight home runs, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored in the best lineup in baseball. The switch-hitting 29-year-old should return to action on Tuesday and continue to be productive offensively for fantasy managers. Edman went 1-for-11 with four strikeouts in the weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rojas is one to ignore for DFS purposes. He's hitless in just one career at-bat against Cabrera.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen (knee) will not play in Game 5 against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday. His absence will stretch to 37 games. Heiskanen skated on Monday morning but is still not ready to make a comeback from his knee injury. His next chance to return will come on Thursday night when the teams head back to Denver for Game 6. On Monday, the Dallas backline will continue to lean heavily on Thomas Harley, Esa Lindell, and Cody Ceci. Through four games in the series, Harley leads the Stars with three points (one goal, two assists) and has recorded 12 blocks.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Pierre LeBrun

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (undisclosed) was scratched from Monday's lineup with an undisclosed injury. Instead, Blake Dunn will get the nod in right field. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team did not provide any information on why he was removed from the starting nine. Over his last four games, Fraley has gone 0-for-12 at the plate with a 2:3 K:BB and two stolen bases. However, before this recent slump, the 29-year-old enjoyed a hot start to the campaign, holding a .345/.472/.621 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, and an 8:7 K:BB. If Fraley were to miss an extended period of time, fantasy managers should expect Dunn, Austin Hays, and Santiago Espinal to share time in right field.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Charlie Goldsmith

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena is batting leadoff again for Monday's series opener against the visiting Detroit Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty at Daikin Park. Outfielder Jose Altuve is in the two-hole after he was rested in Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. It's the first time Altuve hasn't led off since June of 2023. It will be the second straight start out of the leadoff spot for Pena, who is slashing .255/.327/.388 with three home runs, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 13 runs scored on the year. The Dominican infielder recently snapped a 14-game hitting streak in which he went 17-for-52 (.327) with a homer, six RBI and three stolen bases. Despite the fact that Pena is hitting just .111 in nine career at-bats against Flaherty, he should be in starting single-year fantasy lineups while batting leadoff again on Monday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

The Baltimore Orioles have placed infielder Jordan Westburg (hamstring) on the injured list with a hamstring injury. The team initially noted that he was "day-to-day." However, the infielder has not progressed well and will now miss at least a few weeks of action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status while he is sidelined. Over his last six games, the 26-year-old has begun to heat up at the plate, holding a .333/.333/.500 slash line with two doubles and one triple. Prior to this surge, Westburg held a modest .176/.243/.353 line with four long balls and five RBI over his first 17 games of the campaign. Under the hood, Westburg has generated a strong 12.9 percent barrel rate with a .462 xSLG, which suggests he should continue to see positive regression when he returns. While he is sidelined, Ramon Urias will likely cover the hot corner in most games.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Roch Kubatko

Tampa Bay Lightning center Anthony Cirelli (undisclosed) will play in Monday's Game 4 against the Florida Panthers. The 27-year-old suffered an undisclosed injury in the series opener and was not on the ice for the morning skate. However, Cirelli will avoid his first absence of the postseason. Tampa Bay mostly relies on Cirelli to shut down the opposition's best players, but he also chipped in with a goal during a 5-1 victory in Game 3. He has logged 12 hits across the series while amassing 18 penalty minutes. The Lightning will also have Brandon Hagel back from suspension on Monday night, adding attacking quality to the Cirelli line.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Gabby Shirley

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (finger) is back at third base and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Athletics and left-hander JP Sears at Globe Life Field. Jung received a cut on his index finger in Sunday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants, but it was nothing serious and he'll be back on the field a day later. Fantasy managers will want to get the oft-injured third baseman back into their starting lineups for the week. He's in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-17 with a home run, double, RBI, stolen base and run scored in 18 plate appearances. Jung has been strong for the Rangers and fantasy managers so far in 2025, too, hitting .282 (20-for-71) with two homers and seven RBI. Jung has also hit .308 in 13 career at-bats against Sears.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that there are no new plans for outfielder/designated Giancarlo Stanton (elbows). Stanton stayed back in New York during the team's road trip to continue ramping up. The 35-year-old veteran power hitter took batting practice last Tuesday for the first time since he had several rounds of platelet-rich plasma injections in both of his elbows. Things continue to go slowly for Stanton while he deals with torn tendons in both of his elbows, and there's still the potential that he won't play at all this season if he has any kind of setback. Until then, though, he needs to be held in most fantasy leagues due to his power potential when healthy. There remains no timeline for his potential return, which means he'll likely be out until at least June. In the meantime, Ben Rice should continue to benefit from regular at-bats in the DH spot.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: New York Daily News - Gary Phillips

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that infielder Jordan Westburg (hamstring) is day-to-day, but he's not in the starting lineup on Monday against the division-rival New York Yankees at Camden Yards. "We're staying optimistic and hopeful," Hyde said. This will mark Westburg's second straight day out of the starting lineup due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old had testing done on Monday. Although he's considered day-to-day for now, Westburg could still be a candidate to land on the injured list if he's unable to return to the starting lineup the rest of this week. Ramon Urias will make the start at third base and bat seventh on Monday against Yankees right-hander Will Warren. So far in 2025, Westburgh hasn't done much offensively, hitting .217/.265/.391 with four homers, six RBI and 12 runs scored. Fantasy managers will need to check back on Tuesday to see if he's back in the starting lineup.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Baltimore Sun - Jacob Calvin Meyer

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins (illness) is starting in center field and is hitting cleanup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival New York Yankees at Camden Yards. Mullins will face Yankees right-hander Will Warren, who he has never faced in his career. The 30-year-old outfielder didn't play in Sunday's series finale against the Detroit Tigers because he didn't feel well, but he's back in action a day later. Since being moved to the leadoff spot by the O's on April 18, Mullins has gone 8-for-31 (.258) with two home runs, three RBI, two steals and five runs scored in 37 trips to the plate. Overall, he's hitting a solid .279/.421/.547 with six home runs, 20 RBI, five steals and 17 runs scored in the first month of the season. Mullins has added DFS appeal against righties as long as he's in the leadoff spot. Return him to your fantasy lineups to begin the week.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman (hand) is doing the catching for right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano on Monday and is hitting third against the division-rival New York Yankees and right-hander Will Warren at Camden Yards. Rutschman did not play on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers due to a sore right hand that stemmed from when he blocked all ball in the dirt on Saturday. It wasn't a serious concern, though, and the 27-year-old backstop will end up missing just one game. Rutschman has been a disappointment for fantasy manager early on in the season, hitting just .209 (19-for-91) with four home runs, eight RBI and 12 runs scored. He's been especially bad in the last 11 games, going 5-for-37 (.135) with a homer, two RBI, seven walks and 10 strikeouts. We're expecting the former No. 1 overall pick to turn things around sooner than later.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

On Saturday, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters that the team would not pick up offensive lineman Evan Neal's fifth-year option. The 24-year-old was the seventh overall pick for New York in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he was seen as a solid prospect during his college career. However, he's had trouble getting it together at the NFL level and has yet to live up to his first-round billing. In 2024, Neal was surpassed by free agent acquisition Jermaine Eluemunor on the depth chart, appearing in nine games (seven starts). The Giants are expected to try the Florida native out at guard this season, hoping to find another home for him, though it remains to be seen if he will stick. 2025 projects to be his final season with the team.--Alex CiullaSource: John Fennelly

The Carolina Panthers have announced they'll pick up the fifth-year option on offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu. He'll now be with the team through the 2026 season and garner a fully guaranteed $17.56 million in his fifth season. Carolina drafted the 24-year-old with the sixth-overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Ekwonu has improved in each campaign since entering the league and was solid for Carolina in 2024, albeit a better run-blocker than he was in pass protection. Still, he's been reliable -- starting 49 of a possible 51 games -- missing just two contests last year with an ankle injury. The North Carolina State product will need to improve against the pass rush in order to eventually gain a lucrative contract, but he's been a fine contributor for the Panthers. He will anchor quarterback Bryce Young's blindside once again in 2025.--Alex CiullaSource: Tim Weaver

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Chandler Simpson went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Padres. The 24-year-old has been superb since his call-up from Triple-A, collecting a hit in each of his first eight games, going 12-for-30 (.400) with three stolen bases and a 3:4 BB:K, so he does not appear to be overmatched. He's made some spectacular plays on defense as well. A plethora of outfielder injuries was one reason for his call-up, but the 5-foot-11 speedster looks like he's ready to be a mainstay in Tampa. As electric as he's been, the Rays' seventh-ranked prospect is still available in over 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues, but that number should be much higher.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
