Patrick Sandoval Not Expected to Pitch This Season
Patrick Sandoval (elbow) to pitch this season, general manager Craig Breslow told reporters Sunday. This doesn't come as a surprise after manager Alex Cora recently revealed that Sandoval had stopped throwing bullpen sessions. The 28-year-old last pitched in the majors in June 2024 and has since been on the mend from elbow surgery. The Red Sox signed him to a two-year, $18.25 million contract last winter with the hope that he'd return for the second half of the season. They'll now have to wait until 2026 for Sandoval to make his Red Sox debut. He'll come back with a career 4.01 ERA over 107 appearances (100 starts) and 536 innings.
