On Saturday's UFC 318 main event, former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier suffered a unanimous decision loss to former featherweight champion and current BMF champion, Max Holloway. A first-round knockdown from the Hawaiian set the tone early as Holloway nearly finished Poirier, but Poirier managed to survive. Poirier then returned the favor near the end of the second round by knocking down Holloway and almost finishing him. It was a close back-and-forth war, but in the end, Holloway walked out with a unanimous decision win. In 25 minutes of action, Poirier landed 109 significant strikes. Even though he didn't win, it is a fitting end for Poirier, who is one of the most exciting fighters of an era and arguably the best fighter to never hold an undisputed title.

On Saturday's UFC 318 main event, former featherweight champion Max Holloway defended his BMF title by beating former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier after an epic back-and-forth fight. Both Holloway and Poirier were pushed to the brink in this bout. Holloway badly hurt Poirier in the first and the second round and almost finished him, but Poirier rallied back and almost finished Holloway near the end of the second round. After an extremely close fight, two judges scored the fight 49-46 for Holloway, and the third had it 48-47 in his favor as well. In 25 minutes of action, Holloway landed 198 significant strikes. Holloway's next fight just might be a rematch with Ilia Topuria.

Former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa returned to the win column by defeating Roman Kopylov via unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC 318 on Saturday. This was vintage Costa on display as he was always a step or two ahead of Kopylov, dominating Kopylov for most of the fight. Costa also managed to hurt Kopylov on a few occasions. With a minute to go in the round, Costa dropped Kopylov and almost finished him, but Kopylov was saved by the bell. He also stunned Kopylov in the second round, but Kopylov remained composed. In 15 minutes of action, Costa landed 99 significant strikes. After the fight, Costa expressed interest in fighting Khamzat Chimaev.

Kopylov was searching for his third consecutive win, but unfortunately for Kopylov, the fight didn't go his way. There wasn't much Kopylov could do as he was dominated for most of the fight, and was even knocked down by Costa. In 15 minutes of action, Kopylov landed 48 significant strikes, compared to Costa, who landed 99. With the loss, Kopylov dropped to 6-4 in the UFC and is now 14-4 as a pro.

Daniel Rodriguez extended his win streak to three when he defeated Kevin Holland on the main card of UFC 318 on Saturday. Rodriguez was getting the better of Holland in the first and the second round as he hurt Holland badly on two occasions and almost got the finish, but somehow Holland survived and almost knocked out Rodriguez in the third round. After the fight was finished, all three judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28 and 29-28 for Rodriguez. With the win, Rodriguez improved to 20-5 as a pro and 10-4 in the UFC.

Kevin Holland suffered a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC 318 on Saturday. It was an epic back-and-forth fight, and it was evident that both Holland and Rodriguez gave their all. Holland was knocked down on two different occasions, but somehow he managed to survive and even knocked down and almost finished Rodriguez in the third round. Despite almost finishing Rodriguez in the second round, it was Rodriguez who walked out victorious, winning all three rounds on the judges' scorecards. With the loss, Holland dropped to 15-11 with one NC in the UFC and is now 28-14 with one NC as a pro.
