Michael Kopech On Track To Be Ready
2 years agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech (knee) doesn't seem to have any issues after undergoing right knee surgery late last season. "He's on pace. He's in a good spot," manager Pedro Grifol said. Kopech has already thrown a couple of bullpen sessions in spring training and has been looking good. The 26-year-old also dealt with a shoulder injury in 2022, which limited him to 25 starts and 119 1/3 innings (career-high). He had a 3.54 ERA (4.49 FIP), 1.19 WHIP and career-low 21.3 percent strikeout rate. As long as he doesn't have any setbacks this spring, he'll enter the regular season in Chicago's starting rotation. The move from the bullpen to the rotation in 2022 was what led to a drop in velocity and K rate, but all things considered, Kopech pitched well. Still, Kopech doesn't have an extensive arsenal as a starter and is listed as RotoBaller's No. 82 fantasy starter.
