Mekhi Becton Wins Starting Right-Tackle Spot
1 year agoNew York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton has won the team's starting right-tackle spot to start the 2023 regular season. Becton, the former 11th overall pick in 2020 out of Louisville, was able to return to the practice field this summer after dealing with knee injuries the last several seasons. He managed to play well in training camp and the preseason to earn a starting job over Max Mitchell. The Jets' offensive line has always been better with a healthy Becton on the field, but the problem is he's often been out of shape and hurt early in his career. Whether the 24-year-old can stay healthy all year in 2023 is another question, but this is a good start and good news for quarterback Aaron Rodgers in his first season in New York.
