Matt Chapman Has No Restrictions This Spring
4 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (hip), who was limited to just 37 games last year due to a right hip issue that required surgery, slimmed down in the offseason after rehabbing and said that he has "no restrictions coming into spring training." The lingering hip injury required heavy daily maintenance in order to loosen it before games and seemed to zap him of his mobility that made him a former back-to-back Gold Glove winner in 2018 and 2019. The 27-year-old had a career-high 36 home runs and 91 RBI prior to 2020, but he chased an uncharacteristic amount of pitches outside the zone last year. Fantasy managers should jump at Chapman's discount heading into the 2021 season, as he should return to 30-homer power and all-around production at a reduced cost (current ADP of 114).
