Marquise Brown 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Immense Upside With New Team
3 years agoMarquise Brown is no longer a Baltimore Raven after being traded to the Arizona Cardinals for the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He reunites with his old college quarterback, Kyler Murray. Back in 2018 at Oklahoma, Brown caught 75 balls for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns from Murray. There's no doubt both guys are excited to be playing with each other again at the professional level. With DeAndre Hopkins suspended for the first six games of the season and Christian Kirk now in Jacksonville, Brown is almost guaranteed to be Murray's number one target for over a third of the season. In five games (including playoffs) last season without Hopkins, Kirk operated as Murray's number one receiver. He averaged 8.8 targets on 39 routes run per game. He also averaged nearly 90 air yards per game. Now turn Kirk into Brown and you're going to get some fireworks. Last season in Baltimore, Brown was ninth in the league in targets per game (9.1), 12th in target share (26.7%), 11th in air yards per game (94.9), and eighth in deep targets (27). There are plenty of reasons to believe he can be a top-15 receiver early in the season without Hopkins. He may come back down to earth a bit when Hopkins returns, but take advantage of the early season success and chemistry-building that Brown will do with Murray for six weeks.
