Luisangel Acuna Optioned to Triple-A Syracuse
Luisangel Acuna has been sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse. The 23-year-old hadn't been receiving regular at-bats with New York, garnering just 19 total plate appearances in June, and had been limited mostly to serving as a pinch runner or late-game defensive replacement. At Syracuse, the right-handed hitter should get regular at-bats in order to stay fresh for when there is a need for him on the big league club. For the season, Acuna hit .241 with six doubles, no home runs, and 11 steals in 145 at-bats. A solid 79.3 percent contact rate and better than better-than-average 18.4 percent strikeout rate bode well for him in his next turn with the Mets, which will likely be sometime later in the year, however, there is no need to hold onto him in fantasy leagues.
