Lions Plan To Run The Football Often
6 years agoDetroit Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said the team will continue to have a run-first mentality in 2019. “We’ll always be about running the football,” Bevell said Tuesday. “We want to be a tough, hard-nosed, physical football team. We want to be able to exert our will on our opponents.” Bevell oversaw offenses that ranked in the top 10 in rushing four times from 2011-17 with the Seahawks. He also had three top-10 rushing units in Minnesota from 2006-10. Kerryon Johnson should reap the rewards of Bevell's rush-first attack, while C.J. Anderson and Theo Riddick will help with depth behind him in the backfield, with Riddick mostly being useful in the passing attack.
