Lions Have New Backup QB In Tim Boyle
4 years agoFormer Green Bay Packers quarterback Tim Boyle is staying in the NFC North after signing a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Detroit Lions, according to a source. Boyle receives a $1 million signing bonus and $1.5 million in total guarantees. He spent three years backing up Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. In his new home in Detroit, Boyle will have the chance to be the primary backup behind Jared Goff, who was traded to the Lions in January in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Boyle completed three passes for 15 yards in 11 games for the Packers in the last two seasons, mostly to come into the game and kneel. But he has an intriguing skill set with a big arm and playmaking ability from the pocket. With Boyle now gone in Green Bay, Jordan Love, the team's first-round pick in 2020, will be the backup to Rodgers in 2021 after being inactive all of last year.
