Lance Lynn's Playoff Role Undecided
1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Lance Lynn was scheduled to throw four innings in a simulated game on Thursday, according to manager Dave Roberts. The earliest Lynn would be able to pitch in the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks would be in Game 3 next week, but Roberts isn't committing to a specific role for Lynn. Lefty Clayton Kershaw is starting in Game 1 on Saturday and rookie Bobby Miller will take the hill in Game 2 on Monday, so Lynn could be an option to start Game 3. Lynn closed out the regular season by going 4-0 in his last four starts while giving up nine earned runs while walking 11 and fanning 19 in 24 innings, but he was mostly inconsistent in 2023 with both the Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. If Lynn isn't used as a starter in this series, that role will likely go to Ryan Pepiot instead.
