Kyle Van Noy Receives Two-Year Deal From Patriots
4 years agoThe New England Patriots signed free-agent linebacker Kyle Van Noy to a two-year deal worth up to $13.2 million, according to a source. After just one season with the Miami Dolphins, Van Noy will return to New England, where he previously played a variety of roles for head coach Bill Belichick. He played both inside linebacker and edge rusher for the Dolphins and had 69 tackles and six sacks in an up-and-down 2020 season. A combination of Van Noy and linebacker Matt Judson on the edges should help the Pats improve on one of their big defensive weaknesses from a year ago. Their run defense ranked 26th in the league last year, while opposing rushers averaged 4.5 yards per carry. In four seasons with the Patriots, Van Noy had 16.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and 221 tackles. New England also released defensive tackle Beau Allen and wide receiver Marqise Lee on Thursday.
