Kyle Lewis Stands Out On Day 1
4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder and reigning American League Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis stole the show on the first day of full-squad workouts at spring training on Tuesday. Lewis hit 17 home runs over 76 games with an .824 OPS and 128 OPS+ in the last two seasons, and he homered to the opposite field and pull side multiple times during batting practice on Tuesday. But Lewis must lower his 29.3 percent strikeout rate from last season if he wants to see continued success at the major league level over a full 162-game season. That strikeout rate from 2020 ranked in the lowest fifth percentile, per Statcast. Just because Lewis won the AL Rookie of the Year last year doesn't mean you should overvalue him in fantasy drafts this spring.
