Jose Siri Back To Baseball Activities
Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that New York Mets outfielder Jose Siri (leg) is progressing more quickly than expected from the broken bone he suffered earlier this season. Siri exited a game in early April when he fouled a ball off his shin. Initial x-rays came back negative, but after further testing, it was revealed he had fractured his tibia. The 29-year-old's early diagnosis had him back in eight to ten weeks from the time of the injury, but it looks like he has a chance to supersede that timetable. While there's no set date for him to begin a rehab assignment, it's undoubtedly excellent news. Teammate Tyrone Taylor has underwhelmed at the dish in his stead with a .234 batting average, but his xBA indicates he's underperforming (.266). Siri was able to do some light jogging in his return to the field.
