Jordan Montgomery Struggles On Thursday
Jordan Montgomery pitched poorly on Thursday, allowing five runs over four innings of work. Montgomery’s improved velocity has been sticking so far this season as his sinker averaged 92.5 mph on Thursday, up 0.7 mph from last season’s mark, and nearly 2 mph from 2018. Montgomery’s command appeared to be lacking on Thursday, though, as he left several pitches over the heart of the strike zone. As long as Montgomery can get his command back under control, then an ERA below 4.00 is likely for the rest of the season, and fantasy players shouldn’t be too concerned about one poor start.
