Jimmy Nelson Throws Successful Bullpen
5 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson (back, groin) came out of his bullpen session on Friday healthy, according to manager Dave Roberts. Nelson is a little behind the other starters in camp as he competes for the No. 5 rotation spot, but he could still be ready for Opening Day as long as he doesn't have a setback. The right-hander had a fine season in 2017 with the Brewers before suffering an injury that kept him out of 2018 entirely. He didn't pitch much in 2019 either. Nelson would be attractive for the fact that he's pitching for the Dodgers in a pitcher's park if he makes the rotation, but he'd still be more of a depth rotation arm in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.
