3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) won't practice on Wednesday, but he is feeling better and hasn't been ruled out for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. Garoppolo initially thought he'd be out for multiple weeks on Sunday after missing the entire second half of the loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 29-year-old is very questionable for this weekend, and if he were to sit out, No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance would make his first NFL start. Lance tossed two touchdowns in the loss, but he looked a lot like a rookie as well. He obviously has plenty of long-term upside because of his dual-threat skills, but we could see plenty of growing pains if he is forced into a starting role.
