Janson Junk Goes on Injured List With Ulnar Nerve Irritation
Janson Junk (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 24) with right ulnar-nerve irritation and recalled right-handers Seth Martinez and Freddy Tarnok from Triple-A Jacksonville in corresponding moves. Left-hander Josh Simpson was optioned to Jacksonville. The 29-year-old Junk was forced to exit his last start on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays with a right-arm injury, and now he'll have to miss at least the next two weeks. Given the nature of his injury, there's a very good chance we won't see Junk pitch for the Marlins again in 2025. The former 22nd-round pick by the New York Yankees in 2017 out of Seattle University has gone 6-2 with a 4.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 61:10 K:BB in 17 outings (12 starts) over 88 innings for the Fish this year. It's unclear who might take Junk's rotation spot.
