Isiah Kiner-Falefa Has Edge At Hot Corner
4 years agoTexas Rangers manager Chris Woodward said that infielder/catcher Isiah Kiner-Falefa has the "edge" to be a starting corner infielder, which would mean Todd Frazier would shift from third base to first base. Woodward said that Kiner-Falefa "has been out best guy" in summer camp. This is bad news for Greg Bird and Ronald Guzman, who figured to platoon at first base in 2020. IKF is 25 years old and was also having a hot spring training before things were shut down due to COVID-19. He's hit .253/.315/.344 with five home runs, 55 RBI, 66 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 618 career plate appearances at the major league level with Texas the last two years. Kiner-Falefa will be more attractive in AL-only and two-catcher leagues because of his eligibility at third base and catcher.
