Hendry Mendez Working Out at First Base
Hendry Mendez is getting work at first base at Double-A Wichita. The Twins' 26th-ranked prospect has yet to play there in an actual game, but the Twins have plenty of outfield talent, including top-ranked prospect Walker Jenkins, who has yet to debut in the majors, so the team wants to find ways to make him more versatile in order to provide multiple paths to playing time and at-bats. The 21-year-old has hit well all year, including his time with Philadelphia's organization earlier this season before coming over in the Harrison Bader trade. With Wichita, the 6-foot-3 Dominican is hitting .324 and boasting a .446 OBP thanks to a strong 17.2 percent walk rate, which is even better than his strikeout rate of 15.1 percent. Mendez could find himself much higher on prospect lists in 2026, and is a name to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues.
