Griffin Canning A Full-Go In Spring Training
Griffin Canning (back) is pretty much a full-go at spring training after having mostly a normal offseason. He has already thrown a bunch of bullpen sessions and said he took up pilates and will do less lifting this year in order to keep his back healthy all season. Canning didn't pitch at all in 2022 because of a stress fracture in his lower back, but he's entering this spring fully healthy. The 26-year-old should have a place in the Angels' six-man starting rotation to open the year as long as he doesn't have any setbacks in camp. He wasn't very good in 2021 (5.60 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) in 62 2/3 innings, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues will need to see more from him before giving him another shot.
