George Kirby Strikes Out Nine on Sunday
George Kirby tossed a gem in a 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Kirby threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing four hits, walking none, and striking out nine batters to earn the win. The veteran hurler led the game with 19 swinging strikes while improving his record to 3-4, to go along with a 4.22 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts across 49 innings of work. Kirby struggled in his first two starts of the season upon being activated from the injured list in late May but has been excellent since, posting a 2.68 ERA over his past seven starts. He will be a solid fantasy starting option in his next start, which will come on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.
