Framber Valdez Could Throw Bullpen Before Rehab Assignment
Framber Valdez (finger) could throw a bullpen session this week before he heads out on a rehab assignment. "That's still up in the air. It'll be good to see Framber. He's worked exceptionally hard. It seemed like he wasn't even gonna be available during the season -- would be a boost to get him back," Baker said. The 27-year-old left-hander is getting pretty close to game shape and could make his season debut not long from now after he fractured his ring finger early in spring training. Valdez broke out in the shortened 2020 season by posting a 3.57 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 10 starts, and he needs to be picked up and stashed if he's available on your league's waiver wire. There's a chance that he's ready before June if his rehab assignment goes off without a hitch.
