Erik Jones Still Struggling for Speed after Talladega Crash
6 months agoErik Jones had a fairly miserable first half of the NASCAR Cup Series season as a result of Legacy Motor Club receiving less funding from Toyota than their other two teams, not to mention his injury at Talladega. Jones still has solid racecraft in terms of usually finishing better than he starts, as he has never been a great qualifier, but he rarely has fast enough cars to break into the top 10 after his poor qualifying performances. His 34th place qualifying run for today's race at Nashville marks his ninth straight start outside the top twenty, although he qualified better before the injury, so it's likely that is still affecting him. Jones has been consistent at Nashville with three straight lead lap finishes and an average finish of 12.7, but he is having the slowest season of his career so he will likely finish somewhat worse. Still, Jones is a solid Place Differential play on DraftKings this weekend.
