Dodgers Expected To Use Six-Man Rotation In 2024
11 months agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers' starting rotation in 2024 will likely function as a six-man rotation in terms of affording pitchers extra rest between starts. It's a tactic the Dodgers have been using for a while. Last year, left-hander Clayton Kershaw made only four starts on "regular" rest and 20 on five days of rest or more. Bobby Miller made four starts on regular rest and 18 on five days of rest or more. Julio Urias made nine on regular rest and 12 on five days of rest or more. Tony Gonsolin made eight starts on regular rest and 12 on five days of rest or more. It's a tactic that should continue this year given Yoshinobu Yamamoto's transition to the big leagues, Tyler Glasnow's injury history, Walker Buehler's return from Tommy John surgery and Miller's youth. Other pitchers such as Emmet Sheehan, Michael Grove, Gavin Stone and Landon Knack will likely shuttle in and out of the rotation during the year.
