David Robertson 2023 MLB Player Outlook: ADP Skyrockets Following Diaz Injury
2 years agoNew York Mets reliever David Robertson's ADP has taken a serious leap following the unfortunate injury to teammate Edwin Diaz suffered at the World Baseball Classic. With Diaz reportedly set to miss most if not all of the 2023 season, Robertson has emerged as the favorite to close out games for the club this season. The 37-year-old sports a 545 ADP this spring, however, that number has ascended to 202 since March 16, the day after Diaz went down with a patellar tear in his right knee. The right-hander split the 2022 season between the Cubs and Pirates, working to a stout 2.40 ERA and 30.7% K% across 58 appearances, locking down 20 saves in the process. He'll see some competition from Brooks Raley for saves this season but should be the primary closer given his lengthy closing history that includes 157 career saves across 731 appearances. For context, Raley boasts just nine MLB saves in 153 career appearances and sports an ADP approaching 700 since March 16. Robertson has gone from the mid-70s to mid-20s in RotoBaller's relief pitcher rankings as the strongest source of Mets saves while providing plenty of strikeouts for fantasy managers in 2023.
