Cooper Criswell Starting on Friday
Cooper Criswell will make the start on Friday for the BoSox in the series opener against the Houston Astros, according to Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. He'll be followed by right-hander Walker Buehler on Saturday and right-hander Dustin May, who will be making his team debut, in the series finale on Sunday. The 29-year-old Criswell was called up from Triple-A Worcester earlier this week and will be making his first start of the year in the big leagues. He has only appeared in six games for Boston in relief in his second season with the team, allowing nine runs (six earned) on 16 hits (two homers) while walking three and striking out five in 10 2/3 innings with his first career save. Criswell is taking the spot of demoted Richard Fitts, but there's a good chance this is only a spot start now that May has joined the team.
