Commanders Undecided On Chase Young's Option
2 years agoWashington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said the team hasn't decided on whether to exercise defensive end Chase Young's fifth-year option, which would be worth $17.452 million. The Commanders need to discuss his health and review his growth and development. The 23-year-old former second overall pick in the 2020 draft played only three games in 2022 while coming back from a torn ACL suffered in 2021. He had only 1.5 sacks in nine games in 2021 before getting hurt, and he failed to sack a QB in his three games last season. Young made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season, when he had 7.5 sacks and 44 total tackles in 15 games, but it remains to be seen if he can get back to that level of production. Health will be key heading into the 2023 campaign.
