Colton Gordon to Make Another Start on Sunday
Colton Gordon will make another start on Sunday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners in place of the injured Ronel Blanco (elbow). Gordon, the team's No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline, could see extended run in Houston's starting rotation with Blanco likely facing an extended absence. The 26-year-old southpaw was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday and will be making his third big-league start after allowing six earned runs on 12 hits (two home runs) while walking two and striking out 10 in 9 2/3 innings in his first two starts against the Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder doesn't throw hard but has produced high spin rates. His sweeping slider is particularly effective against lefties, but he'll face a tough matchup this weekend against the first-place Mariners.
