Clayton Kershaw May Not Pitch In World Baseball Classic
2 years agoTeam USA general manager Tony Reagins said that "there are some challenges in getting Clayton Kershaw cleared" for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. The exact reason for Kershaw's uncertain status is not known. The most common hold-up for players to play in the WBC is the need to secure insurance coverage, particularly those with a history of injuries such as Kershaw, who missed two months in 2022 with back problems and almost needed Tommy John surgery in 2021. The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to proceed as if Kershaw will play in the tournament, but it's not official yet. Fantasy managers would prefer if the 34-year-old southpaw sat out of the WBC, as he's missed significant time each of the last two seasons due to shoulder, forearm and back injuries.
