Chiefs Cut Matthew Wright
2 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs released kicker Matthew Wright from their practice squad on Monday and signed wide receiver Jerrion Ealy to their practice squad in a corresponding move. Wright kicked in two games for the Chiefs this year when Harrison Butker was dealing with back spasms, and he made three of his four field-goal tries and all eight of his extra points in those two games. He played in six total games in 2022 (four with the Pittsburgh Steelers) and finished 15-for-18 on field goals and a perfect 15-for-15 on extra points. Ealy will give KC some more receiver depth ahead of the Super Bowl after JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Kadarius Toney were all injured in the AFC Championship.
