Chargers Part Ways With Joe Lombardi, Shane Day
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways with offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and passing-game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Shane Day. The moves come after a stunning loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round on Saturday in which the Bolts lost a 27-point lead to eventually lose 31-30. The Chargers offense consistently underperformed throughout the season, even though quarterback Justin Herbert passed Andrew Luck in 2022 for the most passing yards by a QB in his first three seasons in the NFL. Los Angeles ranked 30th in the league, rushing for an average of 89.6 yards per game. Their offense also ranked 17th in red-zone efficiency, converting only 54.1 percent of their red-zone drives into touchdowns.
