Byron Buxton Clears Concussion Protocol, Considered Day-To-Day
Byron Buxton (head) has been cleared from the league's concussion protocol, according to Audra Martin. Buxton was not included in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, though, and is considered day-to-day. Buxton was able to avoid landing on the seven-day concussion injured list, unlike shortstop Carlos Correa, who he collided with in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. The oft-injured 31-year-old could be available off the bench on Friday and could be back in the starting lineup as early as Game 2 of the series at American Family Field on Saturday. The former second overall pick in 2012 does lead the big leagues with his 56 strikeouts in 173 plate appearances entering Friday's action, but he's done well considering, batting .261/.312/.522 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and eight steals in 41 games.
