Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton Sitting on Saturday
Cody Bellinger and designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton are out of the lineup Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Jasson Dominguez will play left field and hit fifth in a meeting with right-hander Sonny Gray, while Ben Rice will handle first base and bat second. Aaron Judge still isn't ready to return to the outfield after coming back from a flexor strain in his right elbow on Aug. 5, so he'll DH and hit third. Jose Caballero will play right field and bat ninth. To keep Stanton's sizzling bat in the lineup, the Yankees have started him in right four times, including three games in a row earlier this week. However, they held him out on Friday and will do so again on Saturday. Before Judge's injury, Stanton hadn't played defense since 2023, so the Yankees would prefer to avoid using him in the outfield.
